The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released a five-day weather forecast for the week starting September 10 to September 14.
According to the weatherman, although Kenyans can expect a generally sunny and dry weather, residents in Nairobi and its environs should brace for showers and cloudy days.
Further, the forecast has noted that rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands of East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast.
“Most parts of the country are likely to be generally sunny and dry. However, a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast may receive light to moderate rainfall,” the forecast noted.

Areas That Will Experience Rains
Areas within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi Counties.
These regions will have cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals, Showers over few places in the afternoon and partly cloudy nights.
On the other hand, areas within the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet counties.
Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho,Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot Counties are also included.
The forecast has indicated that these regions will experience sunny mornings, Showers and thunderstorms over few places in the afternoon and partly cloudy nights.

Kenya Met Lists Areas with Mostly Sunny Weather
On the other hand, the North-western regions including Turkana and Samburu Counties will experience sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoons, and partly cloudy nights.
Similarly, areas within the North-eastern region including Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties, will experience sunny intervals in the mornings and afternoon and partly cloudy evenings.
Moreover, the South-eastern lowlands’ region including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties, should expect sunny mornings and afternoons, breaking into partly cloudy nights.
The Coast region including Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties should expect sunny mornings with a chance of showers over few places.
In the afternoons, the weather will be sunny with a chance of showers over few places while the nights will be partly cloudy.
