A Kenyan woman has been arrested in Ghana with 11.04 kilograms of suspected cocaine worth Sh41 million ($309,120).
The 35-year-old Mary Njeri was allegedly trying to smuggle in the drugs when she was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The woman was detained following a routine check in the arrival hall after disembarking a South African Airways trip from Nairobi to Accra via Johannesburg, according to a statement from Ghana’s Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
“A search of her luggage revealed packets of Cremora food containing the hidden drugs. Preliminary questioning revealed that she had confirmed possession of the consignment in her luggage, and she was later arrested for further investigation,” the statement read in part.

Hong Kong officials detained another Kenyan woman last week for bringing 1kg of a drug into the Chinese metropolis that was thought to be cocaine.
According to Hong Kong authorities, the cocaine that was concealed inside of her body was packaged into 67 pellets and has an estimated street worth of Sh15 million.
