The Kenyan community in the United States is mourning the death of Zacchaeus Tallam, also known as Tom, who was reported missing in late April 2026 in Portland before his body was later discovered on May 9, 2026.
According to The Kenyan Diaspora Media, Tallam, 46, was last seen on April 29 in Bethany, a Portland, Oregon, suburb.
His disappearance triggered immediate concern among family members, friends, and the Kenyan diaspora in the United States.
“Tom, who had been reported missing since April 29, 2026, was sadly found deceased on the morning of May 9, 2026. His untimely death has deeply affected family, friends, and the wider Kenyan community in Oregon,” the Diaspora media said in a statement.

Following his reported disappearance, community members initiated coordinated efforts to trace the whereabouts of Zacchaeus Tallam.

Reportedly, a prayer gathering has been arranged in Portland to honor the memory of Zacchaeus Tallam and support his family. The vigil will be held at 4498 NW Oakpoint Way, where members of the Kenyan community are expected to come together for remembrance and spiritual support.
Community representatives Amos Togoch and Pastor Wekesa have advised those seeking information or wishing to offer assistance to contact family representatives directly. They stated that the gathering will also serve as a moment for collective mourning as the community awaits official updates from investigators.
Authorities have urged the public to allow due process to continue while forensic and investigative procedures are completed. They indicated that further details will be released once the formal processes are concluded.
