Edna Ombakho, a 30-year-old Kenyan student who was reported missing in the United Kingdom (UK) on February 1, 2026, has been confirmed dead.
The authorities said that her body was found in the river on March 8.
After Edna failed to make her regular contact, her family in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, reported that they suspected something had happened to her.
“We are deeply concerned for her safety and are asking anyone who may have seen or heard from her to please come forward,” her family said.
Edna was a master’s student at York St. John University (London campus) and had been living with her boyfriend from December 2024 in Wraysbury up to her time of disappearance.
Thames Valley Police recorded a statement from Edna’s boyfriend to aid in the search and investigation of her disappearance.
Edna Ombakho was described by the Thames Valley Police as about 5’5 “tall, with a small build and braided hair.
According to police reports, she went for a walk in February and never returned home.
She was reportedly wearing glasses, knee-high boots, and a long khaki coat with a fur-lined hood when she vanished.

HAKI Africa Alert on Edna Ombakho
HAKI Africa issued a missing person alert after receiving a call from the family of Ombakho, who was reported missing.
On February 7, HAKI Africa confirmed that they had not gotten any communication since her disappearance.
The lobby group appealed to all members of the public to provide any information that could help reunite Edna with her family.

In January 2026, the body of a deceased Kenyan was discovered in Reading. Authorities confirmed that the man had been living in tents along Abattoirs Road, and the cause of death was prolonged exposure to the cold.
