Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu is on the spot again, this time due to a controversial post on her Tik Tok.
In a clip recorded earlier in the week, the Senator shared a video of herself driving while jamming to a gospel song. But it is not the song that caught the attention of Kenyans on social media who interacted with the video.
Rather, the caption she used and the gestures she made in the video became the topic of discussion. To accompany her video, the Senator wrote “enjoy tirries Tuesday before nivae bra” referring to a popular hashtag on social media.
Some of the reactions seen by The Kenya Times called out the Senator for what they termed as an unexpected conduct from a person of her status.
In addition, Kenyans commenting on the video questioned Nyamu’s suitability to serve in her position citing her conduct.
“Can someone explain to me like a 10-year-old kid how on earth did Karen Nyamu managed to be nominated to the Senate?” Omwamba a popular influencer on X asked.

“It’s a pity that Sifuna (Edwin) and Omtatah have to share the same parliament with her. Read the caption,’ another one commented.
“Karen Nyamu is the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Security, Defense, and Foreign Relations. Kenya is very funny Country.”
Tik Tok videos expose Karen Nyamu to criticism
But this was not the first time Nyamu’s stunts on social media raised questions.
In yet another video she shared while riding on a boda boda, the Senator came under criticism for her sitting position. Nyamu is among Kenyan politicians active on the video sharing app and has over 330,000 followers on TikTok alone.

Away from her engagements and activities as a Senator, Nyamu uses the platform to share some of her personal life- some of which end up painting her as controversial.
She earned a slot in the Senate courtesy of a nomination by the United Democratic Alliance Party after having bowed out of 2022 elections.
Throughout her stint as a legislator, Nyamu has made headlines for the wrong reasons on several occasions including one instance where she was involved in an altercation while attending an event in Dubai.
The drama landed her in trouble with critics calling her out for her conduct. Later, the UDA party summoned her and stated that her conduct had brought shame to the party.
