Peter Philips the nephew to King Charles III has revealed the Monarch is “frustrated” that his cancer recovery is taking longer than “he would want it to”.
Philips who is the son of Princess Anne made these remarks in a televised interview in Australia, adding that the King was however “in good spirits” and remains pragmatic.
“I think ultimately he’s hugely frustrated. He’s frustrated that he can’t get on and do everything that he wants to be able to do,” Phillips said.
“I think the overriding message would be that he’s obviously very keen to get back to a form of normality and is probably frustrated that recovery is taking a little longer than probably he would want it to.”
Philips explained that the King is very pragmatic, and he understands that there’s a period of time that he really needs to focus on himself.
“But at the same time, he is always pushing his staff and everybody – his doctors and nurses – to be able to say, ‘actually can I do this, can I do that?”
King Charles has been undergoing treatment for a type of cancer that has not been disclosed since the beginning of February 2024.
This condition was detected after treatment for an enlarged prostate.

King Charles III Diagnosed of Cancer
In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on February 5, 2024, the public was informed that the King had been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
According to the statement, his Majesty had been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties so as to maintain a schedule of regular treatments.
Later, the King in his message of thanks said that it was encouraging to learn that his diagnosis has helped people understand how organizations supporting cancer patients operate.
“It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organizations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world,” noted the King.
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”
Nonetheless, the update from Phillips comes shortly after the Princess of Wales announced her own diagnosis of a type of cancer yet to be disclosed by the royal family.

Princess of Wales Cancer Announcement
In a video message released to the public on Friday, March 22, Kate said she is currently undergoing “preventative Chemotherapy” after cancer was discovered following a planned abdominal surgery in January.
“It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I’m so grateful,” the Princess shared.
“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately, for the sake of our young family… It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”
