The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has announced a new course set to be introduced in the upcoming September intake.
KMTC in a notice on August 27, 2024, announced that it will be introducing the Higher Diploma in Nutrition Surveillance for graduates of different listed medical courses.
The courses listed as requirements for eligibility include BSc. Nutrition & Dietetics, Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics or Diploma in Community Nutrition.
Also, students with a Diploma or Degree in Community Health Development, Public Health, Project Management, Epidemiology, Health Records and Information, Food Science, Agriculture, and Biostatistics are eligible for the course.
The medical college noted that the Diploma or Degrees should be from KMTC or any other recognized institution.
How to Apply for KMTC Course
According to KMTC, the course is set to take a duration of two years inclusive of 6 months mentorship attachment.

The medical college noted that applications for the course are to be done online through KMTC application portal (SEPTEMBER 2024 INTAKE).
KMTC announced the new course a month after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) announced applications for September 2024 intake to the medical college.
In a statement in July, KUCCPS stated that the applications are open for individuals who sat the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination between and including the years 2014 and 2023.
Those with a minimum Mean Grade of C can apply for a Diploma in Public Health, a Diploma in Community Health, Diploma in Health Counselling, a Diploma in Medical Engineering, a Diploma in Health Promotion and Diploma in Physiotherapy.
Additionally, interested persons with a minimum grade of C, can submit applications for a Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology course at the institution.
The course will be offered in Bondo, Isiolo, Meru – Maua Satellite, Siaya campus.
The Placement Service indicated that courses available for application included a Certificate in Medical Engineering for students with a Minimum Mean Grade of C-. As per KUCCPS, the course will be offered at Bomet, Embu, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Lake Victoria, Loitokitok, Makindu, Meru and Nairobi.
Courses for D and C Students
Also, the placement service has asked for applications for a Certificate in Orthopedic Trauma Medicine. Interested candidates must have a minimum grade of C-.

The course will be offered in Busia, Garissa, Kangundo, Kapenguria, Kaptumo, Makindu, Makueni, Mbooni, Meru – Miathene Satellite, Muranga, Mwingi, Port Reitz, Shianda – Mumias, Siaya, Sigowet, Trans-Mara, Vihiga, Voi, Kakamega – Navakholo Bomet, Embu, Kilifi, Kisii, Kisumu, Lake Victoria, Loitokitok, Makindu, Meru and Nairobi Campuses.
C- Students can apply for Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology, a Certificate in Community Health Assistant, a Certificate in Medical Emergency Technician and a Certificate in Public Health.
They can also apply for Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics in Lodwar and Nyandarua campus.
In addition, D+ students have been invited to apply for a Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics course offered in Chwele, Homa Bay, Kapenguria, Kwale, Lodwar, Makueni – Mbuvo Satellite, Molo, Nyandarua, Rera campuses.
