KMTC Clarifies on Admission Letters, Warns of Conmen

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has issued a warning to prospective students regarding the circulation of fake admission letters.

On Wednesday, July 17, KMTC released a notice addressing the growing concern over fake letters being posted by individuals claiming to assist students in acquiring admission.

The institution explained that the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) was in the process of selecting qualified applicants for the September 2024 intake.

“Please note that KUCCPS is still in the process of selecting qualified applicants,” read the notice in part.

Furthermore, KMTC noted that once the selection was complete, KUCCPS would update the portals of successful applicants and inform them via SMS.

“KUCCPS will update the portals of successful applicants with the following information: “Dear PETER, you have secured a KMTC course for the September 2024 intake pending approval. Details will be provided at the end of the placement process,” said KMTC.

KMTC To Issue Official Letters

The college further explained that it would issue official admission letters upon receiving the list of qualified applicants from KUCCPS.

“KMTC will provide admission letters according to the list presented by KUCCPS and notify candidates via SMS,” read part of its statement.

The institution emphasized that successful candidates would also be provided with login credentials to download their admission letters and joining instructions.

KMTC, however, strongly cautioned students against falling victim to individuals claiming they can help acquire admission letters.

“Beware of Conmen! Any circulating letter claiming to be from KMTC is FAKE and should be disregarded. Do not give money to conmen.”

The college emphasized that applicants do not require any assistance to obtain their letters once they have been selected by KUCCPS.

Moreover, KMTC stressed that unsuccessful applicants cannot obtain admission letters through third-party help.

“KMTC no longer handles student placement for preservice courses; KUCCPS now manages this function. Selection is therefore the mandate of KUCCPS,” said KMTC.

KUCCPS Opens Revision Portal for KMTC

The warning comes weeks after KUCCPS announced the re-opening of the portal for revisions urging students interested in enrolling at KMTC to apply for the September intake.

The announcement, made through a statement on July 3, 2024, served as an opportunity for applicants had not secured a course to select other KMTC courses through the portal.

“Those who applied for the intake and have not secured a course are invited to choose other KMTC courses via the portal,” reads part of the statement.

The placement body urged interested students to submit their applications by the revision deadline which was set as July 12, 2024.

Furthermore, KUCCPS advised that individuals who had previously applied for the KMTC September intake to log in to the KUCCPS Student’s Portal at http://students.kuccps.net and verify the status of their applications.
