The Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KOTDA) has applied for a license to generate and supply electricity.
In a notice on March 4, 2025, it stated that the undertaking will involve a system consisting of 66/11 kV substations, 11 kV Distribution lines, 11/0.415 kV substations, and retail at 11 & 0.415 kV voltage levels.

“The Authority said the application for the distribution and supply of electric power license is pursuant to the provisions of Section 119 Subsection (3) of the Energy Act 2019,” the statement read.
Additionally, KOTDA said it will send an application to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on April 4, 2025.

Konza License Grant
In the statement, the authority stated that the grant of the license will not have any adverse effect on any public or local authorities.
“A copy of the application (subject to confidentiality considerations) will be available (once lodged) for inspection by the public at the registered office of the applicant,” the statement read.

How to Issue Letter of Objection
In addition, Konza Technopolis invited any member of the public or local authority, company, or body of persons that desires to object the application to send their application.
The letter of objection must be addressed to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
Further, the cover of the letter addressed to EPRA must be marked on the outside and written as “Electric Power License Objection”.
Moreover, a copy of the representation or objections must be forwarded to the registered office of the applicant through the KOTDA address.
“Forward your letter of objection to KOTDA registered office at 7th Floor Konza Complex, P. O. Box 190150, Konza Technopolis, in the Republic of Kenya,” the notice read.
