The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the deadline for placement to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
In a statement on Tuesday, January 2, the placement body stated that the extension applied to candidates who did the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from 2000 to 2022.
Further, it indicated that the candidates will be allowed to continue with their applications until January 12.
“Application for continuous placement of students to TVET institutions has been extended to January 12, 2024.
“It targets individuals who sat the KCSE exam from 2000 to 2022. Applicants may visit any public TVET institution for assistance,” the statement read in part.
Qualifications for TVET Courses
Notably, the TVET program allows students with a minimum KCSE Grade of E to apply for artisan certificate courses.
Additionally, students seeking for diploma courses must have a mean grade of C – (minus) and above.

However, those seeking craft certificate courses are required to have a mean grade of D and above.
How to Apply
Interested and qualified persons are directed to apply for the program online through the KUCCPS portal (students.kuccps.net).
Applicants will log in to the portal using their credentials including their KCSE index number, KCSE year and password.
You will then select four courses of your choice and then proceed to choose the government TVET institution of your liking.

The selections should be done in order of the most preferable to the least. The most proffered should be the first choice.
Once done, click submit.
2023 KCSE Release Dates
The announcement came as the release date of the 2023 KCSE result drew near.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced on Thursday, December 28, that the results would be released in the second week of January 2024.
According to the CS, marking process of the exams ended on December 13, 2023.
Machogu further indicated that the candidates’ grade compilation, validation and reverification was ongoing.
