The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road, near the Junction Mall area, from Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
In a statement shared on November 6, KURA stated that the disruption will facilitate the installation of a steel structure for the ongoing flyover construction.
The works will take place daily between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, except on Sundays.
“The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) wishes to notify the general public of a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road around the Junction Mall Area, effective Tuesday, 18th November 2025, to Wednesday, 10th December 2025,” part of the statement read.
During this period, traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus to allow for two-way movement within the affected section.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, follow all traffic signs and directions from police officers and traffic marshals on-site, and expect some delays as the works progress.
KURA has apologized for any inconvenience caused, noting that the project is part of its effort to transform urban mobility.
“We apologize for any Inconvenience caused as we continue to Transform Urban Mobility,” read the statement.

KURA Issues Detailed Map
In a detailed traffic plan, the affected stretch runs between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus of the University of Nairobi.
During the works, which will take place from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM daily (excluding Sundays), parts of the road will be temporarily closed to allow for the safe movement of construction equipment and materials.
Traffic from both directions—to Karen and to town—will be diverted within the same section to maintain two-way movement at night.
Key landmarks along the route include the Kenya Meteorological Department, The Junction Mall, and the Kenya Science Campus, which will remain accessible; however, motorists may experience limited entry at junctions such as Kingara Road and Naivasha Road.
According to KURA, the plan includes temporary lane separations marked by cones and reflective poles to guide vehicles safely through the affected area.

Construction of Ngong Road Flyover
The Ngong Road Flyover Project is part of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority’s (KURA) broader plan to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility in Nairobi.
The project involves the construction of a steel flyover near The Junction Mall, designed to alleviate congestion along the busy Ngong Road corridor, which connects the city center to residential areas such as Dagoretti, Karen, and Ngong.
Once complete, the flyover will allow vehicles to move more efficiently across key intersections, reducing delays and improving safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The project’s work includes the erection of a large steel structure, which necessitates temporary nighttime closures to ensure safe installation.
The flyover is expected to complement other infrastructure upgrades along Ngong Road, creating a seamless link with existing and planned road networks in Nairobi’s southern and western suburbs.
