The government of Kenya has confirmed 42 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions that are legally mandated to award certificates and diplomas.

According to the Ministry of Education, the institutions, which include national polytechnics and specialized colleges, are part of the official placement system for diploma, certificate, and artisan courses.

Approved TVET institutions are intended to strengthen quality assurance in the TVET sector and guide students toward credible training centers across the country.

Meanwhile, the clarification aims to protect learners from enrolling in unapproved institutions and to ensure that qualifications obtained are valid for employment and further education, while strengthening trust in the TVET sector.

KUCCPS Announces Reporting Dates For TVET Students

Elsewhere, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) previously announced that applicants for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs will begin reporting to their colleges in May 2026.

In a statement on April 8, 2026, KUCCPS also noted that students placed in degree programs will begin joining their respective schools in September.

“Whereas applicants for degree programs will join universities from September, those applying for TVET programs will be able to report to their respective colleges starting May, since TVET placement is continuous,” read part of the statement.
