President William Ruto celebrated his birthday on Saturday, December 21, turning 58 years old. As expected, the head of state who has been President for barely two years, received a fair share of heartwarming and not-so-kind messages. While many wished him well, others felt like Ruto was the man behind all their problems on the planet.
Family members, senior government officials and ordinary took to social media to pen something about Ruto, a former Member of Parliament, Minister, and Deputy President, who defied all the odds, including beating the system to occupy the house on the hill.
First lady Mama Rachel Ruto expressed her affection and gratitude noting that this day also marks their wedding anniversary.
“Happy birthday, my dear Bill! As we celebrate your special day and our wedding anniversary, I am grateful to God for the special gift you are to us.
Your devotion as a husband and father is an incredible blessing to us all. Happy birthday, my love!” wrote Rachel.
Leaders extend birthday wishes to the President
The President has also received warm wishes from other leaders Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru.
“Happy Birthday to H.E. President William Ruto. Wishing you good health, abundant blessings, and continued wisdom as you lead our nation,” wrote Waiguru.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, extended his wishes praying for wisdom for the President as he leads the country forward.
“Happy Birthday Your Excellency Dr William Ruto. As you celebrate this wonderful occasion, I pray that God grants you wisdom, good health, and peace of mind to lead our Nation to the pedestal of greatness and prosperity that we all desire for it,” said Kingi.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo also wished Ruto a happy birthday wishing him renewed energy to continue leading the nation.
“May this day renew your energy to continue building the nation we all dream of. Happy birthday, President William Ruto,” said the Interior PS
In the same vein, some Kenyans expressed their birthday regards while others took the opportunity to bash the president.

For some Kenyans, Ruto’s birthday was a chance to call him out.
“Mr President, Happy lovely birthday to you,” wrote Kweli Halisi on Facebook.

While replying to Omollo’s post wishing the President a happy birthday, a Kenyan by the name Josh Butcher wrote the following:
“Corrupt and bad leadership in Africa is not an accident. It’s by design. Whereby even the seemingly morally upright individuals are subdued to praising thugs.”
Another X user going by the name Founder, urged the leaders wishing the President a happy birthday to take the opportunity to tell him the truth about his leadership.
“Even as we celebrate his birthday, do the necessary and tell him that I have lost trust in him plus millions of others who voted for him…it’s high time he listens and takes action in leading the country in the right direction…” wrote Founder.
