A man was arraigned in court for stealing a luxury car belonging to KTN News Deputy Managing Editor Ken Mijungu.
Identified as Simon Mathenge, the suspect was on Thursday, June 13, charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and theft.
Further, the prosecution revealed that the accused conspired to steal the Toyota Landcruiser Prado VX worth Ksh5.6 million outside Nation Centre building.
The vehicle with registration number KCP 119Q, was stollen on June 13, 2019, at 9:40 PM, however, it was later recovered. The suspect denied all the charges against him.

Ken Mijungu Earlier Plea to Find Car
When the vehicle went missing, the KTN news anchor pleaded with Kenyans through posts online, asking for any information to help him find the Prado.
Reportedly, the thieves disabled the tracking system of the car immediately after stealing it, which alerted the anchor that something was wrong.
“Stolen. Please help find. Still searching, anyone with info please report to a police station near you,” he posted with images of the vehicle.
Aside from him media job, the journalist runs a car hire company known as ‘Execar-tive CarHire’ through which he imports cars and machinery.
In May 2021, Mijungu bought a brand-new white Porsche Cayenne worth between Ksh10 million and Ksh18 million.
In September 2019, a different suspect, Barack Ochieng Aluoch, was arrested and released on a Ksh500,000 bail.
Aluoch was accused of conspiring with others to steal the Toyota Prado VX along Kimathi Street.
He was arrested on August 9, but pleaded not guilty before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, who gave him an alternative of release on a Ksh1,000,000 bond.

Erick Latiff Impersonator Before Court
Earlier on June 10, Julius Gacheru Wangari alias Chris Gacheru was presented before Milimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe for posing as Spice FM journalist Eric Latiff.
According to a complaint filed with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the man was soliciting money from unsuspecting guests invited to the ‘Situation Room’ show under false pretenses.
Appearing on behalf of Latiff, corporal Lucas Juma detailed that Latiff lodged a formal complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on May 28, 2024.
Latiff hosts the four-hour morning show alongside Scholar Nduh Okoh and Political Strategist and scientist Charles Muga.
