Businessman and philanthropist Manu Chandaria has been named the most impactful man in Kenya by the research firm Timely Kenya, which ranked 20 prominent public figures for their influence across business, politics, media, entertainment, and sports.
The ranking features Kenyans whose work and public presence have played a visible role in shaping national conversations, economic activity, and social development.
Manu Chandaria Tops the List for Industry and Philanthropy
Manu Chandaria ranked first for his long‑standing contributions to Kenya’s manufacturing sector and his role in industrial development.
Over several decades, he has been involved in building and expanding manufacturing businesses that provide employment and support local production.
In addition to business, Chandaria is also known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in education and community development.

Ndindi Nyoro, Madowo Recognised for Public Influence
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has also been recognized for his role in public leadership and national policy discussions. As a sitting legislator, Nyoro has been involved in debates and initiatives focused on economic issues and governance, earning him national recognition.
International journalist Larry Madowo was also named among Kenya’s most impactful men. Madowo has built a strong profile in global media, where his reporting has helped tell Kenyan and African stories to international audiences, increasing the country’s visibility on the world stage.
Also listed are Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata and Meru Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, both recognised for their roles in county leadership and governance.
Other individuals featured include comedian and activist Eric Omondi, known for using his platform to speak on social and economic issues affecting ordinary Kenyans. SK Macharia, founder of Royal Media Services (RMS), whose influence spans broadcasting and the wider media industry, and musician Bien Baraza, who has played a key role in promoting Kenyan music locally and internationally through his work in the creative sector, were also featured.

The ranking further recognizes athletics star Emmanuel Wanyonyi, whose track performances have earned him national attention and positioned him as one of the country’s most promising athletes, particularly among young people.
