Monica Kivuti’s close family members and relatives have paid emotional tributes during her burial ceremony on 22nd, June,2024 in Yatta, Machakos County.
In her speech, Josephine Wanjiru the first-born daughter, expressed her profound love and grief while recalling the lost moments she wished she had spent with her mother.
“I feel robbed. My mum Monica was going to teach me farming and was very excited about this piece of land. Life has a way of turning things around,” she said.
Josephine also reminisced about her last conversation with her late mother while wishing her a happy birthday on June 12. She recalled jokingly telling her mother to take the day off, only to be told they would celebrate over the weekend.
“I called my mum on her birthday to wish her well. I told her not to go to work that day, but she said we would celebrate it during the weekend,” she shared.
In the tribute to her mother, Josephine wished her eternal rest, expressing hope that her mother would find peace.

On his part, Monica’s husband, Mutima Kang’ata, described her as a supportive partner, recalling how they met during his lowest moments.

He also pledged to raise their youngest daughter, Eliana, with dedication and love.
“I want to assure you that with God’s help, I will bring up Eliana in the best way I know how,” he vowed.
Addressing why Monica was buried in Yatta, Kang’ata shared cherished memories of their joy and excitement about the land they purchased in February 2024.

Family members described Monica as a mother, confidant, and sister, expressing their deep sorrow and how much they would miss her joyous and peaceful presence.
Melody Macharia, Monica’s granddaughter, also delivered a touching eulogy, expressing her devastation over the loss.
“It has been very sad and devastating without you here, and I will take care of Eliana for you,” she promised.
Makadara Law Courts Magistrate ShotÂ
Monica Kivuti was shot during a live court session at the Makadara Law Courts by Londiani OCS Inspector Samson Kipruto in the chest and left hip.

Monica succumbed to gunshot injuries on June 15, while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, with the Chief Justice Martha Koome announcing her death.Â
Following her demise, the Judiciary declared June 18 the official mourning day, suspending all court sessions to honor Monica who died while serving justice.Â
