Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya was yet again involved in a dramatic scene as he joined some of his constituents to protest and eject a Secondary School Principal from office.
In what has already been flagged as a worrying trend and act of crime by the government, furious parents in Kakamega County ejected the principal from his office on Monday.
Led by the first-time area MP, furious parents came in droves, some on motorbikes and some on foot, storming St Gabriel Isongo Secondary in Mumias East.
The mission behind the storm being one, to eject the principal from the school.
Furthermore, the angry mob accused the principal of failing to uphold the school’s academic standards.
“We want commitment from the principals that’s why we have called for that meeting, no you have to go home.
No, let me show some sympathy for a bit, you have to transfer,” said Salasya.
Salasya leads ejection
Justifying the move, the outspoken legislature accused the principal of letting learners down and the community attributing the school’s poor results to lack of commitment.
At the time, parents and students breached the security and went straight to the principal’s office before frog marching him out of the school’s compound.
“The school’s mean score when this principal came was 5 but he has since taken it down to 2.
This is a prestigious school but he’s failing it,” said a parent at the scene.

Seemingly appearing to support the forceful ejection of the principal, Salasya warned that he would not condone school heads who are not performing in his constituency.
This comes barely a week after furious parents in Mafuta Secondary school in Uasin Gishu county stormed the school to eject the school head over poor KCSE results.
Machogu Warns
In its response, the Ministry of Education warned against the invasion of schools by parents and members of the public to harass teachers.
This was after parents stormed several learning institutions over claims of poor performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2023.
Through a statement released on January 15, 2024, Machogu noted that the Ministry of Education was concerned about the invasion and harassment trend.
“A few cases of teacher harassment over claims of poor candidates’ performance have been witnessed in some schools since results of the 2023 KCSE Examination were released on Monday, January 8th ,2024,” read the statement in part.
Machogu went on to threaten police action, affirming that any other invasions to learning institutions would be treated as acts of crime.
“Going forward, the Ministry of Education will treat any invasion to schools to frog-march teachers out of their workstations as acts of crime that will prompt firm and decisive action from law enforcers,” added Machogu.

On the other hand, the storm comes just barely days after the Mumias East MP was arrested for assaulting a Kakamega Member of County Assembly on Friday, January 12.

However, the first time MP was released on a Ksh50,000 cash bail pending his arraignment on Tuesday, January 16.
The police revealed in a statement that Salasya is likely to be charged with causing actual bodily harm and assault, a violation of section 251 of the penal code.
According to the statement, the MP also faced charges of creating disturbance in a manner that could lead to a peace breach.
Salasya came under harsh criticism after a video footage showing him slapping Malaha MCA Peter Walunya during a funeral function surfaced online.
