A clash has brewed between Murang’a Seal and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) over the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) set for Saturday March 16.
The Premier League side has stood firm in their decision to have Hussein Mohammed represent them at the AGM despite earlier warning from the FKF side deterring him from attendance.
Hussein Mohammed is the vice chairperson of Murang’a seal.
In response to FKF, Murang’a Seal issued a statement dated 13th March challenging the federation’s decision.
“For the avoidance of doubt the decision of who shall represent Murang’a Seal at the FKF AGM is the sole prerogative of the club,” read the statement.
“In plain English, there is no regulation anywhere on earth that empowers the FKF CEO to decide for Murang’a Seal who shall represent them at the FKF AGM.”
Earlier this week, the federation CEO Barry Otieno wrote to the club to bar its nominee Hussein Mohammed from attending the meeting on the basis that he was not eligible to represent the club.
According to the letter dated March 11, FKF stated that Mohammed was not a registered member of the Murang’a Seal.

“Following a comprehension review of the registration documents and other details thereof regarding Murang’a SEAL FC submitted with Article L02 and L03 of the FKF Club Licensing Regulations and Article 54 and 55 of the CAF Men’s Club Licensing Regulations (2022) attached for your reference, we would like to inform you that Mr. Hussein Mohammed is not registered with FKF as a member of Murang’a SEAL or FKF in General,” read part of the statement by FKF.
Murang’a Seal Chairperson Hits at FKF
However, in his response, Robert Macharia, chairman of Murang’a Seal, responded to FKF’s objections, asserting the club’s right to nominate their representative for the AGM.
“What the federation has done is to infringe on the rights of the members, and my appointment of Hussein Mohammed as the delegate for Murang’a Seal still stands and he will attend the AGM on Saturday, and no-one is going to change that,” he said.

Macharia has also vowed that they would pursue legal action against the federation if their vice chairman, Mohammed, will be stopped from attending the meeting.
He alleged that FKF’s actions were politically motivated, targeting teams associated with potential challengers to the current FKF presidency.
Furthermore, Macharia emphasized their right to hold differing opinions and dismissed any notion of political aspirations within their actions.
“We know who Barry is working for and we will not be intimidated by the federation because we have taken different political routes from that of FKF current President.”
“It’s our right to hold a divergent opinion on anything,” he said.
