Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) has announced job opportunities for qualified candidates seeking employment in academic and administrative roles.
In a notice on May 8, the university invited applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for various vacant positions within the institution.
“The University invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced people with excellent credentials for Academic and Administrative positions at the levels of Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Clinical Instructors, TVET Trainers, Transport Officer, Mechanic I, and Driver II,” read part of the notice.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Senior Lecturer (Grade 13)
According to Murang’a University, applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree in the relevant field from a recognized university. In special cases, a Master’s degree may be accepted.
Candidates are required to have at least three years of university teaching experience or six years of experience in research or industry.
They must have 32 publication points, with 24 from refereed scholarly journals, and should have supervised at least three postgraduate students to completion. Applicants must also have attracted research funding and be registered with a professional body, where applicable.
2. Lecturer (Grade 12)
Applicants must possess a PhD or equivalent degree in the relevant field and be registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
In special cases, candidates with a Master’s degree and at least three years of teaching experience at university level will be considered.
Applicants must have 24 publication points, with at least 16 from refereed journal papers.
3. Clinical Instructor (Grade 7/8)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Medicine or a related field from a recognized institution.
They must be registered with the relevant professional body and possess a valid practicing license.
4. TVET Trainers (Grade CSG10/JG ‘K’)
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Business, Engineering, Counseling Psychology, Information Technology, Hospitality and Hotel Management, Food Science, Catering and Accommodation Management, Tourism and Travel Management, Medical Laboratory or Pharmaceutical Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Agriculture, or a related area.
Candidates must have at least two years of teaching experience at the Diploma or Higher Diploma level.
Industry experience, TVETA registration or licensing, and Trainer/Assessor certification from TVET CDACC will be added advantages. Strong communication skills, teaching ability, and practical experience are also important.
5. Transport Officer (Grade 9/10)
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management or an equivalent qualification.
They must have at least 3 years’ experience as an Assistant Transport Officer (Grade 7/8), hold a valid driving license for all classes, and have basic computer skills.

6. Mechanic I (Grade 5/6)
Applicants must have KCSE or an equivalent qualification and a clean and valid driving license (classes ABCE and PSV).
They must have passed Occupational Test Grade II and Government Trade Test II in Motor Vehicle, Mechanical, or Electrical work.
A First Aid certificate and at least five years of relevant work experience are required. Applicants must also provide a certificate of good conduct and be at least 30 years old.
7. Driver II (Grade 3/4)
Applicants must have KCSE or an equivalent qualification and a clean and valid driving license (classes ABCE and PSV).
They must have passed Occupational Test Grade III and possess a First Aid certificate.
According to the University, candidates must also have at least five years of driving experience, provide a certificate of good conduct, and be at least 25 years old.
