Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi has issued a clarification on reports circulating on social media regarding the launch of the Mega One Alliance in Limuru 4 conference.

This is after a viral post claimed that tensions were mounting within the said alliance as Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua clashed over the coalition’s 2027 presidential candidate.

The post further alleged that divisions within the Mega One Alliance revolve around whether to hold an internal election or opt for a direct nomination.

“Insiders say the disagreement extends to the nomination process, with factions divided between holding an internal election or opting for a direct nomination. With egos clashing and no resolution in sight, can the alliance hold together ahead of its January launch?” read part of the post.

The viral posts also claimed that Gachagua was advocating for Embakasi North MP James Gakuya as Nairobi’s gubernatorial candidate under the Mega One Alliance, while Kalonzo was backing Embakasi West MP Babu Owino for the same position.

Muturi Denounces Allegations Linking Him to Mega One Alliance

Accompanying the claims were posters featuring Muturi’s image, one of which alleged he would attend the alliance’s launch on January 25 at Limuru Conference Centre.

Among other notable attendees were Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa.

Another poster, featuring the Democratic Party of Kenya logo—founded by former President Mwai Kibaki—alongside an image of Muturi, read, “Time to rest Kenya is coming.”

However, Muturi has since flagged the posts with a FAKE stamp, branding them a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.

“To those spreading fake news and circulating fabricated posters with the intent to damage my name, your actions are baseless and undermine the principles of truth and integrity,” Muturi stated.

He condemned the behavior as a desperate attempt to mislead the public and assured that such tactics would not succeed.

“However, let me assure you that no amount of falsehoods or underhanded tactics will achieve your intended goals,” he added.

“I urge the public to remain vigilant and rely only on verified information from my official channels.”

Claims linking Justin Muturi to the alleged alliance comes after he roped President William Ruto in revelations regarding the abduction of his son, Leslie Muturi, in June last year.

Muturi’s Abduction Claims Stir Controversy, Spark Backlash

In statement made to the DCI, Muturi alleged that his son was abducted by people believed to be National Intelligence Service (NIS).

He shocked Kenyans with a movie-like tale of his frantic appeals to key figures within security system to secure the release of his son with no avail.

According to Muturi, it took the intervention of President Ruto who made one call to NIS Director General Noordin Haji for Leslie to be released.

Muturi’s recent remarks on abductions sparked criticism, with former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo accusing him of irresponsibility in airing his grievances publicly.

Kabogo, while addressing the issue while appearing before the National Assembly vetting committee, argued that Muturi’s public dissent over the abduction of youths and his call for security agencies to reveal the numbers was inappropriate.

At the same time, National Assembly Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro has announced plans to impeach Muturi, accusing him of blackmailing the government over the increasing cases of abductions in the country.
