Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced that there will be interruptions in water supply in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) and 70 other estates in the capital city.
The water company in a statement on Tuesday August 20 noted that the shutdown will commence on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
The statement further noted that the move is meant to allow for the interconnection of Kigoro- Gigiri water pipeline.
“Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd. would like to inform its esteemed customers of a service shut down that will interrupt water supply in the city,” reads the statement in part.
“The shutdown shall facilitate interconnection of the Kigoro- Gigiri water supply pipeline at the Gigiri Pumping Station and Reservoirs on Thursday, August 22, 2024, starting from 6:00am to 6:00pm.”
Nairobi Water Lists Areas to Experience Disruptions
Areas to be affected include those along Mombasa Road, South B and C estates, Mater Hospital, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the entire Industrial Area, and SGR.
Other areas include, Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZA), Coca Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, Estates and industries along North Airport Road and Embakasi Village, and Tassia Estate.

Also included are Ngara, Forest Road, Desai Road, Kipande Road, Gigiri, Whispers Avenue, Limuru Road, Village Market, KPLC Training School, Muranga Road, and Park Road.
Additional areas affected by the interruptions are General Services Unit and Administration Police Training Schools, Nairobi Internal Container Depot, parts of Baraka Estate, UNEP, and the US Embassy.
More Areas in the Capital City
Industries along Masai Road, Umoja 1 and 2, Old and New Donholm, Nyayo Embakasi, Fedha, Kwa Ndege, Avenue Park, Plot 10, Tumaini Flats, Kware, and nearby areas will also experience disruptions.
Eastleigh, Maringo, Buruburu Phase 3, Gikomba, Pumwani, Majengo, Shauri Moyo, Mathare North, GSU, Rafiki, Utalii College, Traffic Headquarters, Mathari Hospital, and Mlango Kubwa will also face water supply interruptions.
Other areas on the list include Juja Road, Huruma, Ngei I and II, Kosovo, parts of Ngumba Estate, Old Muthaiga Road, parts of Thome, Survey, Safari Park Hotel, Kenya Breweries, and parts of Baba Dogo Light Industries.
“We appeal to our customers for patience and urge them to use their available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the water supply,” NCWSC said.
“Any inconvenience is highly regretted.”
