Kenyan artist David Mathenge, popularly known as Nameless, has dismissed resurfaced reports linking him to ‘dark forces,’ after a fan revived the discussion in his social media comment section.

The exchange, which occurred on May 15 in a Facebook post, gained traction online after a fan directly asked the singer whether past allegations that he was involved in mysterious groups were true.

“I read a story some time back somewhere that you are a member of dark forces, is it true legend?” the fan wrote.

Nameless Laughs Off Rumors

But instead of reacting defensively, Nameless responded with humor, making it clear that he no longer takes such claims seriously.

“Some things are so ridiculous I just find them funny now! And I move on!” he wrote.

The award-winning artist explained that the rumors are not new and that they occasionally resurface despite lacking any factual basis. He emphasized that his focus remains on entertaining his audience and creating positive experiences through his music.

He also addressed the narrative, stating that the talk of dark forces is baseless and often stems from idle speculation.

He encouraged fans to attend his concert for a good time, stressing that there is nothing mysterious behind his music, only good vibes.

Singer Addresses Conspiracy Theories Ahead of “Nameless @25” Concert

Nameless questioned where such conspiracy theories originated and expressed surprise that they continue to circulate years later.

He jokingly suggested that his song Majitu might have contributed to the speculation and playfully told fans he could leave it out of his upcoming performance to avoid unnecessary concern.

The “Coming Home” hitmaker went on to ask whether his hit song Juju would also be interpreted as a link to dark forces.

Fans joined the conversation, sharing their own reflections and admiration for the artist, with a fan named Eve Ben recalling how such conspiracy theories once had a strong impact in their younger years, often creating fear and fascination, including widespread myths like the world ending in the year 2000.

Others took the moment to praise Nameless’ longevity in the music industry, with one fan, George Kirwa, commenting, “Nameless, I am a fan of yours… Of all the artists of that decade… You’re the only one in survival mode!!! Wale wote nowhere to be found!!”

The artist first rose to prominence in 1999 after winning a star-search competition organized by Capital FM, which launched his career in Kenya’s music industry.

Nameless has been one of the country’s most recognizable and respected artists.

The rumours linking him to occult groups date back to the early 2000s and gained renewed attention following the tragic 2003 road accident that claimed the life of his close friend and fellow musician, E-Sir.

At the time, some unverified claims suggested that Nameless had sacrificed his friend for fame, allegations that later extended to other artists associated with him.

Nameless has consistently denied these accusations, previously stating that the rumours caused him emotional distress and affected his mental well-being.

Despite this, he has maintained his innocence and continued to focus on his career.

The singer is currently preparing for his upcoming “Nameless @25” concert, which will mark 25 years since he entered the Kenyan music scene. The event is scheduled for August 15.
