Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has broken his silence after he was kicked out as the chairperson of the Budgetary and appropriations Committee.

Ndindi Nyoro while addressing the press on Tuesday March 18 said he was grateful to having been served Kenyans as the chair of the committee.

“As you know and you have interacted, that has been my designation. And that is work we did with a lot of dedication, and I am grateful for that opportunity,” he said.

“I am also very grateful to have interacted with many people as I served as the chairman of the budget and appropriations committee, of course, working with the honorable Maria Mase, who was the vice chairperson, and all the other members, all the other 25 members, incorporating myself and the vice chair who make us 27.”

Ndindi mentioned that the chance of serving as the chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee made him understand many things that he scarcely understood before.

He added that it helped him understand the workings of government, including its levels, arms, departments, and agencies, and how they operate.

“As much as it was work, it was also a profound learning experience that I am truly grateful for. I am also thankful for the fact that I had trained as an economist some many years back, in Kenyatta University,” he added.

“When I got the chance to serve as the chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, I had the first hard learning of how macroeconomic parameters relate with each other.”

He added that he was able to get first-hand experience on the things he was learning, and, therefore,

“It was also a continuation of a learning experience and especially in regard to many macroeconomic factors, how inflation is affected by interest rates, how interest rates affect private enterprise, and many other economic parameters that we hear, but they are also far reaching in terms of how we live, and they are also far reaching in terms of what our country becomes,” Ndindi added.

“And by the way, out of that experience, in the year 2023, I realized I also needed to upgrade a little bit because I singularly found that our country, yes, have many challenges, but the overarching challenge that we face as a country are economic challenges in nature.”

Nyoro stated that his role has been intense and busy and went ahead wishing the new chair and Alego Usonga MP, Sam Atandi the best he takes the committee forward.

“I also want to take this opportunity to wish the current chairman of the budget and appropriations committee and the leadership of that committee, all the best,” he said.

The lawmaker went ahead to thank the people of Kiharu constituency. He explained that to become the chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, one must first be elected as an MP. He added, “I don’t want to test them, but I’m just saying this with humility.”

“I am among the few MPs who, in the last elections, I was elected without producing a single poster. I’m not saying that as bravado, neither am I saying it to prove who I am. I’m saying it in humility that I’m very, very grateful to the people of Kiharu for that honor.”

The Kiharu legislator went on to state that he has never had a conversation with President William Ruto since he was removed from the committee leadership. He added that their last political discussion took place before October of last year.
