Njambi Koikai Makes Appeal to Kenyans After Being Admitted to Hospital

Media personality Mary Njambi Koikai famously known as Fire Mama, has appealed to Kenyans for blood donations.

Njambi in a statement disclosed that she is admitted to a hospital in Nairobi while noting the type of blood group she requires.

“Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the Pioneer Ward Nairobi Hospital, and I kindly require Blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” the post read.

The reggae fanatic was admitted to the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta, Georgia in 2018 for about a year where she received treatment.

At the time, Njambi had been diagnosed with stage four endometriosis and was consequently informed that she needed to undergo a lifesaving surgery.

In a past post, she attributed the worsening of her condition to a misdiagnosis noting that it could be avoided.

“I believe this condition could have been avoided if it were not for the misdiagnosis, I got from the doctors I went to,” she said.

When Njambi Koikai Made a Plea to President Ruto

Njambi has always been vocal about endometriosis and has been championing awareness advocacy.

Her passion led her to create an Instagram video where she read out a letter she had written to American comedienne and television host Ellen DeGeneres asking for an opportunity to use her platform to create endometriosis awareness.

In a statement on May 20, the endo warrior called on Kenyan leaders and President William Ruto to invest in the research of the condition during his trip to the United States.

“This is a sincere and heartfelt call of help to a few Kenyan leaders but allow me to address this to President William Ruto first as he makes his state visit to the US. Mr. President, one of the thematic areas in your visit is investment in health,” Njambi appealed.

Njambi explained that some of the adverse effects of endometriosis including what she experienced are a result of lack of access to treatment in the country.

“In my case that lining grew on my lungs, causing my lungs to collapse every month and countless number of surgeries. It took me 17 years to get a diagnosis. The damage caused due to late diagnosis and lack of treatment in our country,” she said.
