President William Ruto has mourned the death of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) board member, Richie Munyao, who passed away at 38. According to NTSA, Richie was the board’s youngest member. Ruto condoled with the family on November 27, describing his dad, Michael, as a friend.

“Richie Mweka was an intelligent and hardworking gentleman with a warm personality. We celebrate his life and the many memories that he leaves behind. My friend Michael Munyao, your family and friends are in our prayers at this sad moment,” said Ruto.

Richie was the director of Innovo Limited and a member of the NTSA board.

The then Transport Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, appointed him to the NTSA board in February 2023, alongside 5 others, to serve for 3 years.

In a tribute by the NTSA, the agency eulogized Richie as one of its youngest board members who served the nation diligently and brought immense change.

“On behalf of the NTSA Board of Directors, the entire organization, and myself, I extend our deepest condolences to the family of the late Richie. He was a young, vibrant, and dedicated professional whose contributions were instrumental in shaping NTSA into a stronger and better institution. His absence will be profoundly felt by all of us. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” read a tribute by Hon. Khatib Mwashetani.

Apart from being an NTSA board member, Richie was a visionary entrepreneur with expertise in infrastructure and technology and strong government networks.
