NYS Announces 217 Jobs: Qualifications & How to Apply

The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced 217 job opportunities for its male graduates.

In an advert on Sunday, November 17, NYS invited its former trainees to apply for opportunities in various fields offered by an unspecified Saudi Arabia-based company.

Moreover, the positions target skilled professionals in heavy machinery maintenance and repair.

“Through our client reputable and duly registered recruitment company in Kenya, we are delighted to inform our esteemed graduates(Male) of exciting opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the advertisement read in part.

Requirements and Qualifications for the NYS Jobs.

Heavy Equipment Mechanics. 

The employer is looking for Heavy Equipment Mechanics.

The position is open for 60 qualified and interested persons and attracts a salary range of between  60 positions, with a salary range of 1,700 (Ksh58,360- Ksh72,091) and 2,100 Saudi Riyals (SAR).

The mechanic will be responsible for carrying out all scheduled Preventive Maintenance or Corrective Maintenance activities on the AMHEC equipment, mainly mobile cranes. 

For this role, candidates must have a diploma or Trade test in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Plant Mechanics or related certification. 

Also, they must have over 10 years of experience dealing with heavy equipment such as cranes, must be able to read, write and speak English, have a good attitude, have a travelling passport and be of current good conduct. 

Heavy Equipment Electricians

At the same time, 65 positions are available for Heavy Equipment Electricians with the same salary range as Heavy Equipment Mechanics.

The technician will perform servicing, repairs, and overhauls or replacements of all electrical components, including starter motors, alternators, monitors, displays, and camera systems on the designated equipment.

“Electrical knowledge. Must be able to inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose faults, list parts required to repair, and carry out repairs,” explained the notice. 

Candidates must have a diploma or grade test in Electrical Engineering or related field. 

They should be familiar with heavy equipment such as Mobile Cranes, and have a minimum of 10+ years of experience with heavy equipment. 

Additionally, they should be able to read, write and Speak the English Language, have a good attitude, a travelling passport and have current good conduct certification. 

Generator Technicians

On the other hand, NYS has advertised 62 available positions for Generator Technicians. 

Successful candidates will receive a salary range of between Ksh58,360 and Ksh72,091.

The technician will conduct inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of all varieties of diesel generators, as well as low and medium-voltage systems, ensuring that these services are executed safely, professionally, with high quality, and in a timely manner.

Applicants should have generator experience, ‘Cummins — CAT — Perkins’,  and have a qualified experience in the same field (10+ years) of Electric Diagrams, excitation system analysis, AVR mechanism.

Additionally, they should have a certificate or diploma or grade test in Mechanical or electrical. 

They should be able to read, write and Speak the English Language, have a good attitude, a travelling passport and have current good conduct certification.

Automotive AC Technicians

NYS has also advertised 30 vacant positions for Automotive AC Technicians with a salary range of between 1,300-1,700 (Ksh44,628 -58,360)  SAR.

The technician will assess and perform repairs as well as maintenance on the air conditioning systems of heavy machinery, trucks, and light vehicles.

Candidates should have qualified experience in Heavy equipment, vehicles and trucks A/C systems troubleshooting. 

Also, they should be familiar with A/C systems of heavy equipment, heavy trucks or light vehicles and hold a diploma or certificate or grade test in electrical or related field.

They should be able to read, write, and Speak the English Language, have a good attitude, have a travelling passport, and have current good conduct certification. 

Deadline and How to Apply

Candidates will be given a 2-year renewable contract after a 3-month probation period. 

Further, working hours are 8 hrs per day,6 days a week with a food allowance of SAR 300 Ksh10,298, provided Accommodation and Transport, Medical insurance, an Employment Visa and a joining Air ticket.  

Candidates meeting the above requirements are directed to apply by opening and filling out the form on the website.  

Application deadline has been set for Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Formal interviews are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24, 2024, in Nairobi.
