The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced the dates for its anticipated party elections, set to take place in April 2025.
The elections, which will be conducted at both the Sub-Branch (Ward) and Branch (Constituency) levels, are part of ODM’s internal democratic process aimed at strengthening party structures ahead of future political engagements.
According to a Thursday, March 20, statement signed by the Chairperson of the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) Emily Awita, the elections will begin on April 7, 2025, at the ward level, followed by constituency-level elections on April 9, 2025.
Moreover, the elections will be held across all 47 counties and 290 constituencies, with voting scheduled between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
77 party officials will be elected to take up position in various committees including the mainstream committee, the women’s league, the youth league and the disability league.
Further, ODM part members will be voting for their preferred candidates to take up the following positions, Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Organizing Secretary, and additional committee members for each category.

ODM Election Process and Participation
The party has explained that only delegates elected at the Polling Unit level will be eligible to contest or vote in the elections.
The process will be conducted either through consensus or a show of hands, ensuring transparency and inclusivity.
“These elections will be crucial in shaping the party’s leadership at the grassroots level and ensuring that the ODM remains a strong and democratic institution,” the statement read in part.
Furthermore, eligible aspirants can apply for Sub-Branch positions starting March 20, 2025, with the deadline set for March 31, 2025.
Applications can be submitted via the ODM online portal or the USSD code *483*036#.
Aspirants for the Sub-Branch positions will pay a Ksh200 registration fee while aspirants for the Sub-Branch Chairperson will be required to pay a KSh500 registration fee.
Also, aspirants for various Branch-level positions will be required to pay a Ksh1,000 to Ksh5,000 registration fee.
The party has also outlined mechanisms for handling electoral disputes.
Any complaints must be filed within 12 hours of the election results being announced. However, filing a dispute comes at a cost, with fees set at Ksh15,000 for Sub-Branch complaints and Ksh30,000 for Branch-level complaints.

Elections opportunities
ODM had earlier announced job opportunities for individuals interested in contributing to the democratic process by joining its County Elections Committees.
These committees played a crucial role in overseeing party primaries, grassroots elections, and candidate nominations, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process within the party.
In a circular released on Thursday, April 4, the party stated, “The National Elections Board is mandated by the Party Constitution to plan, organize, direct, conduct, supervise, and/or coordinate all party primaries, grassroots elections, and the nomination of candidates to party lists.”
The Board, in line with Rule 13 of the Party Primaries and Nomination Rules, had invited suitably qualified members to apply for vacancies within the County Elections Committees.
