The Postal Kenya Corporation (Posta Kenya)has clarified the viral post indicating that it has increased MPost charges for customers.
In a statement on July 17, Posta Kenya said the MPost virtual addresses was in a pilot but the Corporation has now fully implemented it and the charges have been aligned with the standard rates of the services.
“We have noticed some confusion regarding our recent social media announcement about the new MPost charges. We would like to clarify the following:The MPost virtual box service was initially on a pilot phase. With the successful completion of the pilot, the Postal Corporation of Kenya has now fully integrated this service,” the statement reads in part.
“As a result, charges have been aligned with the standard rates of our physical Private Letter Box services: Individual Physical Box: Kshs 2000 and Corporate Physical Box: Kshs 9450.”

The Corporation apologized for the confusion and thanked the customers for their understanding.

“We apologize to our esteemed customers for any confusion this may have caused and additionally wish to appreciate your understanding and continued support,” said Posta Kenya.
This comes after the Corporation announced that it had increased MPost charges for virtual addresses for both corporates and individuals.
In a notice on Thursday, July 17, Postmaster General and CEO John Tonui said corporates will now be charged Ksh9,450.
This in twenty-three times the Ksh400 currently charged for corporate boxes.
Tanui announced that the charges for individual boxes will now be charged Ksh2,000 up from the current Ksh400.
He stated that these new charges took effect on July 5, 2024.
“PCK wishes to inform our esteemed customers and the general public that the rates for Mpost Virtual Boxes/Addresses for both Corporate and Individual have been adjusted with effect from 5th July 2024,” Tonui said.

In figures, this means that that Corporation has increased the rates by 2,200 per cent for corporates and 400 per cent for individual box holders.
