Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reportedly gone missing following a violent attack at Wairima ACK Church in Othaya.
Witnesses say assailants targeted the church with live bullets, tear gas, and set vehicles on fire.
Videos seen by The Kenya Times, captured vehicles teargassed outside the ACK church.
According to accounts from the scene, those inside the church say they are trapped and have called on Kenyans to pray for their safety.
The attackers were allegedly linked to a squad sent by political figures, as investigations are ongoing.
Rigathi Gachagua Accuses Ruto of the Attack
In a post shared on social media, claimed that President William Ruto had sent a killer squad to Wairima ACK, where Gachagua was attending a church service.

He also claimed that the attackers used live bullets, torching his vehicle.
“William Ruto has sent a killer squad to kill us inside Wairima ACK church, Othaya. We are marooned in church, being attacked with live bullets and tear gas, and my vehicles were torched. We ask Kenyans to pray for us to come out alive,” said Gachagua.
In a video shared by Stephen Kalonzo on X, a group of plainclothes police officers arrived in a police vehicle and other people in a public vehicle , firing guns towards the church.
Authorities have yet to confirm the whereabouts of Gachagua, and security agencies are reportedly responding to the incident to secure the area and evacuate those trapped.
Call for Investigations into the Attack.
Kenyans and opposition leaders have condemned the alleged attack and have called on police to investigate the matter.

Led by opposition leader Stephen Kalonzo, he has called on the Police Inspector General of police to hold those involved in the attack.
“I strongly condemn the violent attack at Witima ACK Church in Othaya, where former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his team, together with unarmed leaders and civilians, are trapped inside a place of worship as live bullets and tear gas are deployed and vehicles torched outside. I hold the Inspector General of Police and all those responsible fully accountable for the safety of Rigathi, his team, and all civilians inside the church. No political ambition or rivalry can ever justify terrorizing citizens or attacking a place of worship,” said Kalonzo.
Other Kenyans are also accusing Gachagua of claiming it’s a planned and staged attack.
Arch Kitenge, a user on X, said, “You planned it, everyone knows you.”
Omusheni on X also accused him, claiming he also did that during his tenure as deputy president.
