President William has been in the United States of America for a three-day state visit, after receiving an invite from President Joe Biden.

First lady, Mama Rachel Ruto has been accompanying the Head of State in different events during his historic visit.

The two have caught the attention of the public as they shared several heartwarming and romantic moments while accompanying each other in the US.

These moments shared through various photos and videos seen by The Kenya Times have captivated both their delegation and the public.

Their affectionate displays underscored their strong bond and added a personal touch to their official engagements, showcasing a side of the presidential couple that resonated with many onlookers and followers.

Arrival in the United States

President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto arrived in the United States on May 19, 2024, holding hands romantically.

They were seen hand in hand as they disembarked from the A6RJUBBJ Boeing business jet.

The visit marks a historic moment, as Ruto becomes the first African president invited for a state visit to the US in over 15 years.

During their trip, they visited Atlanta, Georgia where they met, spoke and interacted with Kenyans living in the US.

In the photo below, the first lady is seen admiringly staring at her husband while he spoke to Diaspora Principal Secretary Roseline Njoroge.

Arrival at the Joint Base Andrews

In another photo, the first lady accompanied President William Ruto in his trip to Washington, D.C.

The two smiled and held hands as they alighted from the aircraft.

Mama Rachel wore a vibrant red and green Ankara dress popularly known as Kitenge in Kenya, while the president wore a dark suit paired with an orange tie.

They were warmly received by the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden.

At Arlington Cemetery

President Ruto romantically held the first lady Rachel Ruto’s hand as they walked down the stairs at the Blair House.

She accompanied him to Arlington National Cemetery where they paid their respects to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nation.

At States Dinner

Mama Rachel Ruto and President Ruto posed for a photo at the States dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden and his wife first lady Jill Biden.

The dinner marked 60 years of diplomatic relations between Kenya and the United States.

President Ruto donned a black suit with a black tie while the first lady wore an elegant black and gold dress.

At the Martin Luther king National Museum

In another photo, the head of state and first lady held hands while they visited the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park in Atlanta.

They were accompanied by Dr. Bernice Albertine King, daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Riding a bus

Mr Ruto and his wife shared a romantic gaze as they posed for a photo while riding a bus to the dinner venue.

President William Ruto alongside his host counterpart Joe Biden and their spouses Mama Rachel Ruto and Jill Biden rode a wagon ahead of the State Banquet on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Upon alighting the bus, the head of state and Mama Rachel walked hand in hand to the venue where the dinner was being held.

Kenyans Reaction to Ruto’s Romantic side

Kenyans on social media reacted to Ruto’s display of affection while in the US with some urging him to Keep up with it even as he returns to Knya.

Facebook user Gladwell Nduta threw a subtle jab at Africa posing a question.

“Who said African men don’t hold hands?
