President William Ruto has dismissed claims of covering up for a Cabinet Secretary (CS) who was seen with 200 million dollars in Dubai in an engagement with Gen Zs on Twitter (X) held on 5th July,2024.
While answering a question by Marvin Mabonga, an X user in the space, the president labeled the reports “fake”.
The question followed reports that Cabinet secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen was seen with a stack of 200 million dollars in Dubai, which was said to be part of the funds allocated to his docket.
“The issue of a minister being found in Dubai with 200 dollars is fake news that is not true,” stated Ruto.

Additionally, the president addressed the issue of unemployment stating that the government will be announcing 3,600 vacancies in the housing sector.
“As part of our housing program we will be hiring 3,600 persons including architects and others in the construction industry, to work with our people in construction,” promised the president.

While addressing concerns about incompetency in his cabinet, the president clarified that the dockets need leadership therefore dismissing that there were cabinet secretaries that were not qualified in their jobs.
“Iam here as a scientist and many people are doing things they did not specialize on, it is a leadership and a management issue,” clarified Ruto.
Likewise, the president said that the government compensated affected farmers who had bought fake fertilizers in a bid to cushion them from losses.
While addressing corruption and incompetency issues in his government, Ruto clarified that he would fire any CS if found guilty including Agriculture and farming Cs Mithika Linturi.
“When enough evidence is gathered against the minister to convict him, I will fire him.”
The head of state also confirmed that he would not dissolve his cabinet but has given directives on how all the dockets run smoothly without any hitch going forward.

The president had chaired a cabinet meeting on 4th July where the public expected him to heed to the pressure by anti -finance bill to dissolve and appoint new members of the cabinets.
In the meeting, the head of state promised to place austerity measures to implement and align government expenditures with the budgetary implications that came with the withdrawal of the Finance Bill, 2024.
