Live Blog: Ruto Speaks About Karen Nyamu’s Behavior and Taking Action

The scheduled engagement between President William Ruto and Kenyans has been marred by hitches as many Kenyans have trouble joining.

The Head of State has reshared three links to the space which have failed to remain live.

At the same time, many Kenyans have reported that they have been blocked from entering the space even though Ruto had announced that the space would be open for all Kenyans.

The latest shared link by the President had allowed access to 78,000 Kenyans.

However, Ruto spoke for a few minutes stating that he was fulfilling his promise to ensure that the country forged a way forward after the nationwide protests.

Additionally, he has said that he corrected them explaining that it is easy to make mistakes while speaking in public.

“The member of parliament of Molo is doing a good job, He has made mistakes, but he is bright.Maybe he said what he should have said but he has a bright future even Ichung’wah. I apologize on his behalf.

“After he made the statement, I called him and the next day he corrected his statement. These leaders will make mistakes but partly it is because of inexperience. I want to take responsibility because these are members of my team, and I will correct them,” he said.

4: 37 PM: On whether he will fire Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, Ruto has said that he will only do so if enough evidence is produced to convict him.

“Can the families of the 200 people who were killed in Githurai step forward. 200 people is not a joke. I am sorry to tell you, but you have the wrong numbers. Tomorrow, bring the names and family members of people who are saying their loved ones are not there.

“Don’t take them anywhere, bring them to state house. And where possibly are the bodies? Let us not use information that is not verified.”

3:50 PM: Ruto promises to take action concerning Kenyans who were abducted by police during the anti-government protests.

“After this engagement I would like, in a very secretive way, send me that information so that I can take action because you did not deserve the kind of treatment you went through.

In response to floods experienced in the country, he has said that he did his best to take care of affected victims.

“For the first time in the history of Kenya, I made sure that every Kenya living in riparian reserve was given accommodation or alternative reservations. I gave every Kenyan Ksh10,000. It was the best I could do. I promised that I would consider them the first beneficiaries of our housing program.

“In fact, I was asking whether the one with 8 bullets dies because that case did not exist. We found out that the case of eight bullets took place many years ago in Buruburu. I am the president of Kenya, but the president does not own absolute power.”

3:20 PM: State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed has asked Kenyans to limit their questions to two minutes and introduced Osama Otero as a cohost.

Ruto has apologized for the delay and hitches experienced.

“We are not discussing tries, positions or personalities. We are discussing things that matter to all of us. I have come here to listen. That one thing that I have been accused of not doing, that is what I am here to do.”

“The Kenya Human Rights commission said there was a massacre in Githurai, that was not true. Even the BBC on hearing such outrageous allegations went to investigate and said there was no such thing. In fact, one Kenyan died in Githurai.

“You have to prove yourself and earn the title of President. Why is he constantly abroad. Whom does travel Ruto represent. Why is he earning Cabinet ministers with positions. We are tired and we want to know when he is dissolving parliament because Kibaki did that.
