The scheduled engagement between President William Ruto and Kenyans has been marred by hitches as many Kenyans have trouble joining.

The Head of State has reshared three links to the space which have failed to remain live.

At the same time, many Kenyans have reported that they have been blocked from entering the space even though Ruto had announced that the space would be open for all Kenyans.

The latest shared link by the President had allowed access to 78,000 Kenyans.

However, Ruto spoke for a few minutes stating that he was fulfilling his promise to ensure that the country forged a way forward after the nationwide protests.

5:24 PM: Ruto’s ends his X space unceremoniously.

5:12 PM: Ruto has said that he has had to speak to nominated Senator Karen Nyamu over her behavior.

“I have had to sit Karen Nyamu down and tell her to change what she is doing. Karen Nyamu is a girl I have had to tell that she needs to do things differently. I know what is going on and I have promised that I will be making changes.

“I know you have said that I should clean the slate, but you do not have the job I have. But I have heard you.”

5:00 PM: Ruto has said that he will pass a bill enabling the reconstitution if IEBC by Tuesday, July 9th, 2024.

4:38 PM: In response to why his allies made slandering remarks about Gen Z led protests, Ruto has said that Molo Member of Parliament Kimani Kuria and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah made mistakes.

Additionally, he has said that he corrected them explaining that it is easy to make mistakes while speaking in public.

“The member of parliament of Molo is doing a good job, He has made mistakes, but he is bright.Maybe he said what he should have said but he has a bright future even Ichung’wah. I apologize on his behalf.

“After he made the statement, I called him and the next day he corrected his statement. These leaders will make mistakes but partly it is because of inexperience. I want to take responsibility because these are members of my team, and I will correct them,” he said.

4: 37 PM: On whether he will fire Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, Ruto has said that he will only do so if enough evidence is produced to convict him.

“When enough evidence is gathered against the minister to convict him, I will fire him.”

4:26 PM: 123,000 individuals join President William Ruto’s X space.

4:10 PM: President William Ruto has hit back at Kileleshwa MCA Rober Alai over the distribution of allocations made to counties.

Ruto has told him that he should be the one to respond to such matters as an MCA.

3:53 PM: Ruto has asked Osama Otero to present a list of those killed in Githurai during protests and insisted that he brings the family members of the victims to State House on Saturday, July 6.

“Can the families of the 200 people who were killed in Githurai step forward. 200 people is not a joke. I am sorry to tell you, but you have the wrong numbers. Tomorrow, bring the names and family members of people who are saying their loved ones are not there.

“Don’t take them anywhere, bring them to state house. And where possibly are the bodies? Let us not use information that is not verified.”

3:50 PM: Ruto promises to take action concerning Kenyans who were abducted by police during the anti-government protests.

“After this engagement I would like, in a very secretive way, send me that information so that I can take action because you did not deserve the kind of treatment you went through.

In response to floods experienced in the country, he has said that he did his best to take care of affected victims.

“For the first time in the history of Kenya, I made sure that every Kenya living in riparian reserve was given accommodation or alternative reservations. I gave every Kenyan Ksh10,000. It was the best I could do. I promised that I would consider them the first beneficiaries of our housing program.

3:46 PM: Osama Otero narrated how he was abducted by police and held against his wish at Parklands police station

3:30 PM: Ruto is back on the space. Responding to a user, he has insisted that the police is an independent body and that he cannot dissolve cabinet.

“Let me tell you why I cannot dissolve cabinet, when you sit in the place that I sit, you have to look at many things. I have this afternoon issued ways in which we can make progress by looking at different things.

“The finance bill was meant to achieve very many things for Kenya. I gave in because the people of Kenya said that they do not want it. “

3:28 PM: Ruto loses connection and drops off from the space.

3:27 PM: “The situation in Rongai is that a criminal assaulted the police, took over the gun and fired a gun that killed a young Kenyan. It is also not true that the young Kenyan was shot with eight bullets.

“In fact, I was asking whether the one with 8 bullets dies because that case did not exist. We found out that the case of eight bullets took place many years ago in Buruburu. I am the president of Kenya, but the president does not own absolute power.”

3:20 PM: State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed has asked Kenyans to limit their questions to two minutes and introduced Osama Otero as a cohost.

Ruto has apologized for the delay and hitches experienced.

“We are not discussing tries, positions or personalities. We are discussing things that matter to all of us. I have come here to listen. That one thing that I have been accused of not doing, that is what I am here to do.”

“The Kenya Human Rights commission said there was a massacre in Githurai, that was not true. Even the BBC on hearing such outrageous allegations went to investigate and said there was no such thing. In fact, one Kenyan died in Githurai.

3:15 PM: Ruto joins X space with State House Kenya account.

3:12 PM: Kenyan in Germany calls out Ruto for the lives lost during nationwide protests.

“What accountability is going to take place in regard to the lives that have been lost.

“What has Ruto done about it? Him accusing the Inspector General and the Cabinet does not make sense because he heads the state. Does he understand his role. He cannot continue killing Kenyans and not taking accountability for it.

“You have to prove yourself and earn the title of President. Why is he constantly abroad. Whom does travel Ruto represent. Why is he earning Cabinet ministers with positions. We are tired and we want to know when he is dissolving parliament because Kibaki did that.

3: 09 PM: Joy Muraya engages Influence Osama Otero on Hussein Mohammed’s X space. President William Ruto has not yet joined the space.

3:04 PM: President William Ruto’s fourth X Space with 61, 000 listeners has ended.

2: 50 PM: Hussein Mohammed shared a link to a new X space while Ruto’s space is ongoing
