Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife, Margaret Kenyatta, have three children, Jomo, Ngina, and Jaba, who, despite belonging to one of Kenya’s most prominent political families, have largely maintained a private, low-key lifestyle.

As grandchildren of Kenya’s founding President Jomo Kenyatta, the three have grown up in the public eye but have chosen to keep much of their personal and professional lives out of the spotlight.

Jomo Kenyatta Jr

Jomo Kenyatta Jr., born on April 8, 1989, is the eldest of the three siblings and notably shares his birthday with his mother, Margaret Kenyatta.

He pursued his education in South Africa, attending prestigious institutions such as Hilton College and Michael House in KwaZulu-Natal.

In 2011, he interned at Johari Cleff Studios, a creative agency owned by Bruce Odhiambo, a longtime associate of his father.

Jomo has largely kept a private life, making only occasional appearances at public or political events.

He is married to Fiona Achola, and the couple has two children. Their firstborn daughter, Wanjiru, was born in November 2017 at Aga Khan Hospital, while their son, Uhuru, was born on May 27, 2020, at Nairobi Hospital.

In 2023, Jomo briefly made headlines following a police raid at his Karen residence over allegations related to firearm possession.

Former President Uhuru publicly responded to the incident, criticizing the move and defending his son. Jomo later moved to court seeking to challenge the withdrawal of his firearm license.

Ngina Kenyatta

Ngina Kenyatta, the only daughter and middle child, is named after her grandmother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.

She is more visible compared to her brothers, particularly in business and philanthropic work. Ngina serves as a director at the Kenyatta Foundation, which supports disadvantaged students through education and mentorship programs.

Ngina is also an entrepreneur and runs a high-end establishment called The Green Experience (or Green Haven) on the family’s tea estate in Limuru, Kiambu County.

In June 2022, Ngina married Alex Mwai, son of Karen Club’s General Manager Sam Mwai, in a private traditional Kikuyu ceremony held away from the public eye.

She is also a mother, though details about her child remain largely undisclosed.

Jaba (Muhoho) Kenyatta

The youngest of the three, Jaba Kenyatta, also referred to as Muhoho, is the most private member of the family.

He is rarely seen in public and is widely described as reserved and media-shy. Compared to his siblings, very little is publicly documented about his personal or professional life.

Jaba is interested in creative fields, particularly fashion and design. On rare occasions when he has appeared in public, such as giving speeches, he has drawn attention for his quiet and reserved demeanor.

All three Kenyatta’s children have studied abroad at different stages of their education and are generally known for maintaining a dignified and understated presence.

Uhuru’s Children have largely stayed away from active politics, focusing instead on private careers, business ventures, and personal pursuits.
