Akoko Val, whose full name is Akoko Valery Oyugi, has built a following by sharing videos of herself preparing meals, shopping for groceries, and managing her home.

Her content has grown from cooking and household activities into a lifestyle brand featuring food, family, home organization, and glimpses of her increasingly luxurious lifestyle.

Akoko Val started creating content in 2017, initially sharing different aspects of her everyday life.

According to Val, cooking became the strongest part of her content after she noticed that videos showing her preparing food attracted more attention from her audience.

She leaned into the niche, producing videos around meal preparation, grocery shopping, and household routines.

Akoko Val gave viewers a glimpse into the process behind the meals, including buying ingredients and preparing food for her family.

How Akoko’s Videos Attract Attention

In 2025, Akoko Val drew attention after sharing a video of herself preparing octopus, which attracted the attention of social media users.

The unusual dish drew mixed reactions online, with some viewers expressing shock while others joked that limited finances had spared them from developing costly or unfamiliar tastes.

One commenter, Kennedy Ndaya, humorously likened the dish to something that looked almost impossible to eat.

“That thing looks like the peace treaty that made the Jews unable to eat or drink at the time,” stated Kennedy Ndaya.

Akoko Val is also known for her cooking videos, where her young son often features alongside her in the kitchen, sometimes happily snacking on tomatoes as she prepares meals.

Her content has also included different types of meat, traditional meals, and elaborate food preparations, giving her audience a view of how she plans and prepares meals at home.

Her shopping content has also become popular, including a video she shared in 2024 of a supermarket haul costing about KSh39,700, showing the food and household items she purchased.

The video sparked discussion about how much she spent on groceries and gave followers another look into her lifestyle.

Akoko Val won the Food Influencer of the Year award at the 2025 Pulse Influencer Awards, placing her among Kenyan creators recognized for their influence across different areas of digital content.

In 2025, she unveiled a new mansion, showcasing a home featuring prominent decorative finishes, large windows, balconies and a landscaped compound.

According to her TikTok house-tour post, she wrote that the milestone was the culmination of countless viewings, prayers and patience before her family could finally call the property home.

“A year later, countless viewings, prayers and patience, and today we finally call this place home,” wrote Akoko.

In January 2026, Akoko Val added another major purchase to that image when she unveiled a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d.

The vehicle was showcased to her followers and became another talking point around her growing lifestyle brand.

Akoko Val Personal Life

Beyond her food and lifestyle content, Akoko Val also shares updates from her family life, but she keeps parts of it private.

Akoko Val, whose full name is Akoko Valery Oyugi, is married to Harry, although she has largely kept her husband’s identity out of the public eye and only occasionally features him in her videos

The couple tied the knot on October 21, 2023, and have a son together, whom she always calls Bambi.

In June this year, she announced that she was expecting her second child, describing the pregnancy as a major birthday surprise.

“Akoko is having Baby No. 2. Best birthday gift ever. Six years later, our family is growing, and my heart is so full. We are so ready for you, little one,” stated Val.

Akoko Val later revealed that her second child is a boy.
