President William Ruto appointed a selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as the Vice-Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
In a gazette notice dated October 4, Ruto appointed 7 members to the PSC recruitment panel.
PSC is a Constitutional Commission consisting of a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and seven Commissioners appointed by the President with the approval of the National Assembly.
The members who will be tasked with the recruitment process include Arthur Osiya, Oscar Eredi, Prof. Nura Mohammed, Grace Wairimu Kamau, Ruth Wambeti Ruraa, Nancy M. Butama, and Elizabeth Chesang’.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the Public Service Commission Act, 2017 and in accordance with the procedure set out under Paragraph 1 (1) of the First Schedule to the Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Under paragraph (a)— Arthur Osiya; Under paragraph (b)— Oscar Eredi; Under paragraph (c)— Nura Mohammed (Prof.); Under paragraph (d)— Grace Wairimu Kamau; Under paragraph (e)— Ruth Wambeti Ruraa; Under paragraph (f)— Nancy M. Butama; Under paragraph (g)— Elizabeth Chesang; to be members of the Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment as the Vice-Chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission, the notice reads.
The President also made 6 fresh appointments in various government institutions and corporations which include the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC), and the National Mining Corporation.
Former MP appointed
President Ruto has appointed former Machakos Town Member of Parliament (MP) Victor Kioko Munyaka to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre, for a period of three years effective 4th October 2024.

Also, former Eldoret East MP under KANU Joseph Kipchumba Lagat has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 25 (1) (a) of the Mining Act, 2016, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— JOSEPH KIPCHUMBA LAGAT to be the Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th October 2024,” the notice adds.
Bishop Joseph Kagunda on the other hand has been appointed to be the chairperson of the Board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya, for a period of three years, with effect from the 4th of October 2024.
Ruto makes fresh appointments
Silas Otieno Jonyo has also been appointed as the chairperson of the Council to the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, for a period of three years, with effect from the 4th of October 2024.

The head of state in the gazette notice further made fresh appointments to the Water Resources Authority (WRA) by appointing Donald Murgor as the new chairperson.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 14 (i) of the Water Act, 2016, 1, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint-DONALD MURGOR to be Chairperson of the Water Resources Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th of October 2024.”
At the same time, Ruto has appointed James Ndung’u Mureu to be the Chairperson of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 4th of October 2024.
