President William Ruto has appointed four selection panels to constitute the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), and the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC).
State House Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, in a statement sent to the newsrooms on Thursday, August 29, noted that the terms of office of the chairpersons and members of the commissions are set to lapse.
“It is notified that the terms of office for the respective Chairpersons and Members of four Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices are set to lapse. The State Officers appointed to the ranks of those bodies serve a single non-renewable term of six years,” read the statement in part.
President Ruto appointed Joshua Wambua, Patrick Mtange, Monica Sifuna, Quresha Abdullahi, Public Service PS Amos Gathecha, Mary Kimonye, Lawrence Kibet, and Samuel Kaumba to the selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment of SRC chairperson.
On the other hand, Arthur Osiya, Justice Msagha Mbogholi, Joyce Nyabuti, Monica Wanjiru, Raymond Nyeris, and Calorine Naikeana have been appointed to the selection panel for the recruitment of nominees for appointment of the IPOA chairperson and seven members of the commission.
Ruto appoints selection panel for the recruitment of NGEC and CAJ
In the selection panel for the recruitment of a new National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) chairperson and one member of the commission, the Head of State appointed Florence Nyole, Timothy Odongo, Lerina Kariringah, Linda Musumba, Janet Kumg’u, Maimuna Mwidau, Reuben Chirchir, and Mary Mwiandi.

In the Commission on Administrative Justice, President Ruto appointed Edwin Makori, Zena Jalenga, Jasper Mbiuki, Susan Chelagat, Patrick Wamoto, and Joan Machayo to recruit nominees for appointment as chairperson and two members of the commission.
President Ruto called on qualified Kenyans to make applications for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the four commissions.
“His Excellency The President encourages all qualified Kenyans to respond to the clarion call to serve the nation by making applications for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the respective Commissions and Offices once invitations to prospective applicants have been made,” Koskei stated.
Lynn Mengich’s tenure at SRC comes to an end
The appointment of an eight-member selection panel for the recruitment of SRC commissioners comes following the expiry of the former Commission’s six-year term in office.

Lynn Mengich, the SRC chairperson and seven commissioners took office in September 2018.
The outgoing commissioners have already handed over their exit reports to President Ruto ahead of the expiry of their terms in September.
According to the Constitution, holders of constitutional commissions and independent offices serve for a non-renewable term of six years.
