Construction of the 10,000-seater Kabarnet Stadium is progressing towards its scheduled completion by the end of the year, President William Ruto has said during his development tour of Baringo County.
The President expressed satisfaction with the progress of the facility during an inspection in Baringo Central Constituency, highlighting the project as part of ongoing infrastructure development in the county.
The stadium is expected to provide Kabarnet with a major sporting facility capable of accommodating up to 10,000 spectators. Its completion would expand the county’s infrastructure for sporting competitions and other public events.
The development comes as the Government pursues investments in roads, electricity connectivity, housing and public services across Baringo County.

While the stadium’s planned capacity is established, further details on the construction cost, specific sporting facilities, completion milestones and arrangements for its eventual use were not provided during the inspection.
The scheduled completion date of December 2026 will be a key milestone to monitor as construction progresses. The facility’s readiness will ultimately depend on the completion of the works and any necessary inspections before it can be opened for use.
Sports infrastructure can provide venues for athletes to train and compete, while also creating opportunities for communities to host tournaments and other events. However, the extent of these benefits will depend on how the facility is managed, maintained and made accessible after completion.

Kabarnet’s development is part of a wider programme of projects highlighted during the President’s visit to Baringo County.
In Eldama Ravine, Ruto opened a Huduma Centre intended to bring Government services closer to residents and flagged off a Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Project targeting 343 households.
He also launched construction of a 70-kilometre road network linking several areas in Eldama Ravine, Mogotio and Baringo Central constituencies.
In addition, the President laid the foundation stone for Kabarnet University College and inspected construction of the Kabarnet Town Affordable Housing Project, which currently comprises 480 planned units, with an expansion target of 1,000 units.
The range of projects places sports infrastructure within a broader development agenda covering education, housing, transport and access to public services.
