Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has offered Albert Ojwang’s widow Nevnine Onyango, a job in the Nairobi County government.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, June 15, Sakaja said he had met with Albert Ojwang’s father, wife, and mother.
Consequently, he promised support to the family of Albert Ojwang, the teacher who died in police custody.
Further, Sakaja announced that Ojwang’s father has been gifted rental apartments in Homa Bay County to provide him with a steady income.
“He used to work with my team once in a while. I have sat down with his father, wife, and mother. We cannot bring him back, but there are many ways we can still help the family.
“I have already given his wife a job in Nairobi County. And for the father, we have bought him apartments in Homa Bay County to help him earn rental generating income,” said Sakaja.

Kenyans Plan Nationwide Protest on Tuesday
Earlier, the governor had also promised to cover all funeral expenses on behalf of the family.
At the same time, he issued a warning to residents of Nairobi who were taking advantage of protests against police brutality in the city to destroy property and vandalize infrastructure.
The sentiments came as Kenyans planned a nationwide protest on Tuesday, June 17, calling for accountability over the death of the teacher in police hands.
Using the hashtag #TuesdayisTuesday, Kenyans are rallying each other to carry flags, water and mobile phones, and be ready to call for the resignation of Deputy Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.
More questions have been raised over the implication of DIG Kanja in the case, after a revelation on Saturday, June 14, 2025, that officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), took Ojwang to Mbagathi Hospital while he was already dead.
The news directly contradicted DCI Amin’s earlier statement, made under oath, that Ojwang was still alive when he arrived at the hospital.

Mbagathi Hospital on albert Ojwang’s Death
At the same time, a letter from Mbagathi Hospital confirmed that Ojwang was already dead upon arrival.
According to the letter, his body was cold and bore bruises on the limbs.
Moreover, a technician who was allegedly hired to tamper with the CCTV at the Central Police Station was arrested, after he admitted that he was paid Ksh3,000 to delete footage of Ojwang.
Police said the technician admitted to being involved in interfering with the CCTV system.
The technician told police that the equipment used for the CCTV installation at the station had been supplied by a woman who hired him in 2024.
He said he installed cameras at the report office, the corridors leading to the cells, and the parking yard, adding that he had been called back several times to carry out maintenance work.
