The Social Health Authority (SHA) on Saturday, March 15, dismissed reports that it had paid claims owed to various hospitals, including President Ruto’s home hospital in Uasin Gishu. Initially, it had been claimed that Moi Referal and Teaching Hospital was paid Ksh345 million.
In a statement, the Authority flagged a viral document circulating on social media as fake.

“The Social Health Authority (SHA) cautions healthcare providers and the public that the payment analysis document linked at https://mgr.ctnt.pesaflow.com/cms/assets/uploads/2025/03/SHA-FACILITIES-PAYMENT-ANALYSIS.pdf is fake and should be ignored. We also want to inform healthcare providers that updates regarding the payment of the pending National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) debt will be communicated directly to them,” the statement read.
The Authority clarified that claims payments are made directly to healthcare providers and that it does not work with intermediaries.

Furthermore, the Authority advised that if users encounter any suspicious activity, they should report it to the SHA or the police immediately.
SHA Dismisses Document Alleging Payment of Claims to Various Hospitals
The fake document alleged that SHA had disbursed claims to various hospitals, with Kenyatta National Hospital (General Wing) reportedly receiving the highest reimbursement of Ksh379,837,249. Other hospitals mentioned included:

The fake document also claimed that facilities in Nairobi County received the highest reimbursement amount at Ksh2,226,435,866, followed by those in Uasin Gishu County (Ksh710,675,339) and Kisii County (Ksh646,790,866). Facilities in Samburu County allegedly received the lowest reimbursement at Ksh5,121,340.
Alleged Payments to Government and Private Hospitals
In the government hospitals category, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) was listed among the highest-paid hospitals, reportedly receiving Ksh379,837,249. It was followed by Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital ( Ksh345,110,305) and Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) receiving Ksh258,055,918.

Out of the top 10 highest-paid private hospitals, seven were in Nairobi. The Nairobi West Hospital allegedly received the highest reimbursement at Ksh129,273,579. It was followed by:
- Meru Doctors Plaza Ltd (Level 4) – Ksh73,585,962
- Ladnan Hospital (Level 4) – Ksh66,366,870
In the Mission Hospitals category, AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kiambu County was listed as the highest-paid, allegedly receiving Ksh122,767,559. It was followed by:
- North Kinangop Catholic Hospital
- Consolata Hospital Mathari
