Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has offered to help former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua and ex NTV health and science journalist Eunice Omollo.
Speaking at the Oga Obinna show, Sonko said he will transfer Kimani from Mathari Hospital to Mombasa Women’s hospital rehab.
Sonko said boxing legend Conjestina Achieng is receiving treatment from professionals at the facility.
“He is a known journalist; I know him in person. We can agree with the parents, we reschedule from Mathari, and we can transfer him to where Conjestina is, there have got professional doctors,” Sonko said.
The former City boss said he will pay Kimani’s bill at Mathari and cater for all his expenses until he is discharged from rehab.
‘That will be my contribution to Kimani, I will clear the bill at Mathari, and I also pay his bills over there until he is discharged. I will also take the parents on a three-day holiday, we will deal with that case,” he said.
Kimani Mbugua Illness
Kimani Mbugua has been battling mental issues for the past four years.
The journalist has been trending on social media and Obinna stepped in to assist him.
On May 17, Oga Obinna picked up Kimani Mbugua from his home and took him to Mathari Hospital.
This came after Kimani’s father revealed that was normal until his drink was spiked during a birthday party at a club on days leading to February 24, 2020.

He explained that Kimani was on a high for four days consecutively and was rushed to hospital on the fifth day after losing his cognitive abilities.
“We took him to the doctor, and he was admitted at Avenue Hospital. He was completely blacked out and did not even know where he was. so, I followed up to understand what had happened in the previous four days,” he said.

Oga Obinna Moves to Help Eunice Omollo
Speaking after Sonko’s promise, Obinna said the money that Kenyans have raised for Kimani’s treatment will now be channeled to Eunice Omollo.
Obinna said he will discuss with Kimani’s parents and give them a portion of the money to cater for their future visits to Mombasa where he will be admitted.
“I will discuss with the dad we take Ksh100,000 we give them, we can then shift the balance to former NTV journalist Eunice Omollo. I would really love if we would take that money as it is to clear Eunice’s bill, take her to the hospital and bring her back,” Obinna said.

Eunice was recorded in a video pleading for help from well-wishers to seek appropriate medication for her mental disorder.
The journalist said she has been battling bipolar disorder for the past 19 years and was unable to access the prescription drugs to keep it under control.
“I want to go to the hospital because now in my depressive state, if most of you have been following me, I have lived with bipolar for 19 years now. I cannot live without my medication,” she said.
“I can’t afford the medication. I am about to lose my house; I have lost my son who now lives with my mom. I need to sleep. I have not had any sleep for days now,” she said in tears. “I also need a job.”
Sonko Promises to Assist
However, Obinna said part of the money will be used to cater for Eunice’s treatment and to assist her when she is discharged from the hospital.
“Because you are handling Kimani, let us handle Eunice Omollo. Once we do, they we can close the till and leave the rest to God. So that when Eunice Omollo is discharged from the hospital and there are no rent arrears, and she is back on her feet then we are good,” he said.
Sonko promised to assist in the treatment of Eunice as well.
