Lamu County had a total of 81,453 registered voters as of 2022, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The county is divided into two constituencies: Lamu East and Lamu West.
Lamu East accounted for 22,047 registered voters, while Lamu West had a significantly higher number with 59,406 voters.
Lamu East is represented in Parliament by Ruweida Mohamed Obo of the Jubilee Party, while Stanley Muiruri Muthama, also of the Jubilee Party, serves as the Member of Parliament for Lamu West.
Lamu County is located along Kenya’s North Coast and is one of the six Coastal Counties in the country. The county’s capital is the historic town of Lamu.
Geographically, it shares borders with Tana River County to the southwest, Garissa County to the north, Somalia to the northeast, and the Indian Ocean to the south.
