Isiolo County has a total of 89,504 registered voters in 2022, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The county is divided into two constituencies, Isiolo North, which has the higher voter registration with 67,323 voters, and Isiolo South, which accounts for 22,181 registered voters.
The two constituencies are represented in Parliament by members of the United Republican Party (URP).
Abdullahi Jaldesa Banticha serves as the Member of Parliament for Isiolo South, while Joseph Shamal Lomwa represents Isiolo North.

Leadership in Isiolo County
At the county level, Dullo Fatuma Adan serves as Senator, representing the county’s interests in Parliament.
The county government is headed by Governor Abdi Guyo. Rehema Dida Jaldesa holds the position of Women Representative, advocating for women’s issues across the county.
In the County Assembly, representation is spread across various political parties, although URP holds a significant number of seats.

Abdi Sora Balla (Garba Tulla), Adan Ali Wako (Kinna), Ali Boru Galgalo (Chari), and Nura Diba Billa (Sericho) are all members of URP.
Hassan Diba Kumpa represents Cherab under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), while Lemantile David Litisian (Oldo/Nyiro) and Peter Losu Loyan (Ngare Mara) are affiliated with The National Alliance (TNA).
Moses Kithinji Mwongera represents Bulla Pesa under the Independent Party (TIP), and Paul Mero serves Burat ward under the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK).
Salesio Kiambi, representing Wabera ward, is a member of NARC-Kenya.

Isiolo County is located in the arid and semi-arid region of the country.

It lies in the former Eastern Province and serves as a gateway between Kenya’s northern frontier and the more developed central and coastal regions.
The county covers an area of approximately 25,336 Km and is bordered by Marsabit to the north, Wajir to the east, Garissa to the southeast, Tana River to the south, Meru and Laikipia to the southwest, and Samburu to the west. Isiolo town, the county’s capital, acts as a hub for administrative and commercial activities in the region.
The county is home to communities including the Borana, Turkana, Meru, Somali, Samburu, and Rendille communities.
Livestock farming, particularly pastoralism, is the backbone of Isiolo’s economy, supported by camel, cattle, sheep, and goat rearing.
