Uasin Gishu county commissioner Dr. Edison Nyale was furious over the poor attendance at Jamhuri day celebrations held at Kapsoya Secondary School grounds on December 12.
The county commissioner threatened to sack the chiefs saying they failed to sensitize and mobilize the people on the importance of attending the national celebrations.
“Machief kazi imewashinda? Hii ni nini. Kumaanisha wananchi hawana imani. Mkiwaambia kwamba twendeni kule county commissioner anakuja; mkubwa kabisa. Gavana mwenyewe anakuja ambaye atakuja kusikiliza mahitaji yao na aweze kuaddress.” Stated the county commissioner.
“We don’t want to witness such very low turnout from the members of public in Uasin Gishu, the county of his excellency the president vile mulivyo. Hii ni aibu gani hii.” He added.

Moreover, Mr. Nyale noted that the governor had come to listen to problems residents face to address them but there was poor attendance for the Jamhuri day fete.
The commissioner further warned the chiefs saying that next time he will take serious action against them.
According to Nyale, it was shameful for big people like him and the Uasin Gichu Governor to address empty seats during such an important function.
