United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) has announced a new wave of elections after the recently signed partnership with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement on March 10, 2025, the grassroots elections are scheduled to happen on April 11th and 12th, 2025.

“The National Steering Committee, together with the National Elections Board, have today met to deliberate on the upcoming phase 2 of the UDA Grassroots elections. UDA has so far successfully conducted the elections in 5 Counties,” the statement read.
UDA Grassroot Elections
According to the statement, the ruling party is scheduled to hold the second phase of the exercise in twenty-two counties (22) where grassroots elections will be conducted.

The counties include Bungoma, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kisil, Kisumu, Kitui, Kwale, Lamu, and Machakos.
At the same time Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Migori, Mombasa, Nyamira, Siaya, Tana-River, Turkana and Taita Taveta.

Registrations Now Open
The registration for candidates is now open and will remain available until Friday, 21 March 2025, at midnight.
The party has appealed to its members to apply and register through their online portal, UDA.ke.
Further, they stated that 113,800 candidates have so far registered for the contest.
“These elections represent a pivotal moment in our journey towards strengthening democracy in our nation,” read the statement.

Additionally, the grassroots elections will aim at ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented.
The party will seek to empower local leaders and cultivate a leadership that is not only responsive but also accountable to the people.
Its framework and foresight strategy shall offer participatory leadership, hence promoting democracy.

The ruling party has issued an open opportunity to every Kenyan Citizen to engage in the political process.
Additionally, they have produced over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that the elections are conducted seamlessly through digital electronics.
They assured the public that the elections would be open, free, fair, and with instantaneous results at the polls’ closure.
Postponed Elections
In June 2024, the party indefinitely postponed its scheduled grassroots elections a day after following violent youth-led nationwide protests over the Finance Bill, 2024.
The ruling party offices in Embu County were some of the properties torched during the protests that saw several youthful protesters shot dead by Police.
