The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has announced the phase two grassroots election dates in 22 counties.
UDA’s National Election Board (NEB) issued a notice on Wednesday, February 13 regarding the phase two polling centre-level grassroots elections scheduled for the 11th and 12th of April 2025.

NEB chairman Anthony Mwaura further notified all aspirants and participants that registration is now open and ongoing.
According to Mwaura, grassroot elections for eleven counties will be conducted on April 11.

They include Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, Turkana, Kisii, Nyamira, Bungoma, Migori, Siaya, and Kisumu.

UDA announces grassroots elections dates for 11 Counties
On the other hand, counties conducting grassroot elections on April 12 include Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River.
In June 2024, the party indefinitely postponed its scheduled grassroots elections a day a following violent youth-led nationwide protests over Finance Bill, 2024.
UDA offices in Embu County were some of the properties torched during the protests that saw several youthful protesters shot dead by Police.
The ruling party had scheduled to hold its second phase of the exercise in the counties of Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kisii, Bungoma, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Wajir, Kwale, Kitui, and Garissa before the demonstrations.
“The National Election Board of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) hereby issues this formal notice regarding the grassroots election originally scheduled to occur on the 28th and 29th of June 2024,” said NEB chairman Mwaura.
He added, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Board has determined that it is necessary to postpone the aforementioned grassroots election.”

NEB said further details regarding the rescheduled dates and any additional instructions would be communicated in due course.
ANC merges with ruling party
The announcement of UDA Party’s phase two grassroots election dates comes days following the merger with the Amani National Congress (ANC).
UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire on January 17, 2025, announced that Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, who was ANC’s party leader, will be one of the new outfit’s deputy party leaders.
Mbarire also announced that Kelvin Lunani, who was ANC’s chair, will be the new party’s vice-chair.
Omboko Milemba, ANC’s secretary- general, was unveiled as the new party’s deputy secretary-general.
The merger event was held at State House, Nairobi, was witnessed by President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
“We are extremely happy as UDA that finally, we have come to the end of this process, which was delayed because of had bottlenecks and challenges,” said Mbarire who is also the Governor of Embu County.
Mbarire noted that the pre-merger coalition benefits and commitments in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition have been integrated into the merged party and will be available to advance the objectives of the new party.
She said the parties have also agreed on the transition, implementation and monitoring of all the undertakings of the merger agreement.
