Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia, also known as K’Ogalo, have issued an update on the search for a new coach and assistant.
Gor Mahia dismissed their entire coaching and technical staff after failing to win any trophies throughout the season for the first time in nine years.
The club had recorded 539 applications for key positions by the application deadline on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Club Secretary General Nick Arum said 148 candidates applied for the head coach position while 21 individuals submitted applications for the assistant coach role.
This includes the head coach, assistant coach, team manager, team doctor, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach, goalkeeper coach, and Chief Executive Officer.
Arum said 311 applications were deemed valid, and several were disqualified after an initial screening.
Some of the reasons for rejecting the applications were failure to meet qualification requirements, language barriers, and duplicate entries.
Arum said Gor Mahia will consider the applicants’ qualifications as well as the Club’s needs and financial status while selecting the candidates.
“We will assess all applications carefully and select candidates based on their qualifications, the club’s needs, and financial considerations. Some applicants may have expectations beyond what the club can accommodate on matters of salary,” he added.

Evaluation & Candidate Selection Process
Arum said the evaluation process is underway, and shortlisting will be finished as soon as possible.
The club aims to have the new technical team in place promptly to begin preparations for the upcoming season.
He said Gor Mahia will pick the suitable candidates from the list for the 8 vacant positions.
“We have reviewed all the submissions and will be considering 247 qualified applications following another round of review. From this pool, we will select the most suitable candidates for interviews across the eight advertised positions. Time is of the essence—we must begin our pre-season preparations in time without delay,” said Arum.

Contestants for Gor Mahia Roles
Reports indicate that several foreign coaches, including some based in Europe and others from across Africa, have applied for the position.
Two former Gor Mahia coaches and three former AFC Leopards tacticians are also among candidates seeking to take charge of K’Ogalo.
Gor Mahia lost the league title to Kenya Police FC and the Mozzart Bet Cup to Nairobi United.
This prompted the Club to fire the head coach Zedekiah Otieno, assistant coach Michael Nam, goalkeeper trainer Boniface Oluoch, team manager Victor Nyaoro, the medical staff, and club stewards.
