UDA Secretary-General Hon. Sen. Cleophas Malalah has issued a strong statement emphasizing the importance of discipline and respect within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Malalah expressed concerns over reports of indiscipline among some UDA elected leaders. He stated that certain individuals have shown blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency, which he deemed unacceptable.

The Secretary-General specifically called out Githunguri MP Hon. Gathoni Wa Muchomba, Kapseret MP Hon. Oscar Sudi, and Nyeri Governor Hon. Mutahi Kahiga for their recent conduct, which he stated undermines party unity and disrespects the leadership.

“Your recent conduct not only undermines the party’s unity but also disrespects the leadership that you pledged to serve. Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behavior persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you,” Malalah stated emphatically.

UDA Warning Message

He also mentioned Hon. Moses Kuria, Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, and Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport.

Malalah urged them to focus on their ministerial responsibilities, particularly highlighting the urgent need for road repairs following recent floods.

“Hon. Moses Kuria, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and join the political arena. Similarly, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, your focus should be on addressing the pressing issues in your ministry. Serve the Kenyan people or step down from your position and return to politics,” he asserted.

He urged them to focus on their ministerial responsibilities, particularly highlighting the urgent need for road repairs following recent floods in the country.

In addition, Malalah addressed the issue of early campaigning by young UDA politicians aiming for the 2032 elections.

He further called on them to halt these premature activities and concentrate on serving their constituents, warning that early campaigning distracts from their current responsibilities and disrespects the electorate’s trust.

“Your current mandate is to serve your constituents. Early campaigning not only distracts from your responsibilities but also disrespects the trust placed in you by the electorate. Should you continue with these premature campaigns, the party will take stern disciplinary action against you,” he cautioned.

Moses Kuria’s Clashes with the Deputy President

For instance, Moses Kuria criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s stance on the ‘one man, one vote, one shilling’ revenue-sharing formula.

Speaking during a church service in Embu on May 12, Gachagua had expressed his support for the revenue-sharing plan that was proposed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In response, Moses Kuria stated that he would not deceive the people of the Mt Kenya region about the revenue formula, as many individuals from the region hold senior government positions.

“This is why I will not lie to the people of Mt Kenya region about one man one vote one shilling,” Kuria said.

Barely a week later, Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria called out Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for demanding that he is addressed in his office over the Limuru 3 conference.

Speaking during a media interview on Thursday, May 16, the vocal CS said that it was unrealistic for the deputy president to make such demands, yet he was elected to serve the people.

This political clashes between the Moses Kuria and the deputy president have raised questions of concern between the UDA party.
