Cabinet Secretary (CS)for Defense Aden Duale will be awarded an honorary degree in the 5th Graduation ceremony of Garissa university.
Aden duale will receive this honor as a recognition of his service, leadership, and enduring commitment to the betterment of society.
According to a statement by Garissa University, the CS will receive an honorary doctorate in Political Science and Public Service during the 5th Graduation held on June 20, 2024.
”In recognition of his exemplary service, visionary leadership, and enduring commitment to the betterment of society, Garissa University is proud to confer upon Hon Aden Bare Duale, an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science and Public Service, during the 5th Graduation Ceremony on June 20, 2024,” announced the institution.

The CS has been described as a devoted champion for the advancement of education through his advocacy for initiatives that promote knowledge sharing and intellectual development within the Muslim community in Kenya.
Duale’s Achievements
Additionally, the institution stated that his contributions extend beyond politics and education to include initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods of citizens.

“His contributions extend beyond politics and education to include initiatives aimed at enhancing community cohesion, promoting interfaith dialogue, and advocating for the rights and well-being of all Kenyan citizens,” read part of the statement.
The CS holds a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Moi University and a Master of Business Administration from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Political Career
In 2022, Aden Duale was appointed as the CS for Defense by President William Ruto.
His appointment came despite his initial election for the third time as the Member of Parliament for Garissa Township constituency in August 2022.
In his tenure as an MP, Duale made history after becoming the first Leader of Majority in Parliament under the new constitution. He served in the position for seven years under the then Jubilee administration in a stint where the 11th and 12th parliaments passed multiple bills.
Garissa University hailed his political career while stressing how he steered the passage of at least 150 Bills into law during his seven-year tenure as he first Leader of the Majority Party in Kenya.

The Defense CS now joins a list of prominent Kenyans to receive honorary degrees including Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
