Veteran Journalist Pamela Sittoni Appointed to Willow Health Board

The veteran journalist, Pamela Sittoni  has been appointed to the Willow Health Media Board of Directors.

Willow Health made the announcement through a statement saying that Sittoni’s experience in the media industry will be an asset to the company and to the board.

“Willow Health Media is thrilled to announce the appointment of Pamella Makotsi Sittoni to its Board of Directors. A power- house in media and communications, Pamella brings a wealth of experience spanning decades in leadership, advocacy, and innovation,” said Dr. Mercy Korir, the CEO of Willow Health.

 Sittoni is experienced in leadership

According to Willow Health, Sittoni’s vast experience makes her a perfect fit for the role, underscored by leadership positions she has held in the media industry.

“Pamella has shaped the media landscape in East and Central Africa, holding senior roles at Kenya’s most influential newspapers, including The EastAfrican, Daily Nation, and The Standard. Her tenure as Group Managing Editor at Nation Media Group underscored her ability to lead with vision and integrity,” Dr Korir said.

Beyond the newsroom, Pamella has championed transformative causes, working with UNICEF Kenya to advocate for children and women’s rights.

Pamella’s leadership experience saw her win the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Annual Journalism Excellence Awards, and the Women in Editorial Leadership Award for Sub-Saharan Africa by the World Association of News Publishers WIN Programme.

Pamella Sittoni’s Career background

Previously, Pamella served in the Board of the World Editors Forum and on the Executive Council of the Kenya Editors Guild.

She has also served as a trustee of Africa Check and member of the Thomson Foundation (UK) Board.

By virtue of having served in these boards, Willow Health is optimisic that Pamella will bring a wealth of Board experience to its board.

Pamela holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature and Anthropology, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Communication from the University of Nairobi. She has a master’s degree in New Media and Democracy from the University of Leicester, the United Kingdom.

The company believes that Pamella’s expertise will guide Willow Health Media especially in its editorial vision and collaborative partnerships.
